Default Does anyone else feel ripped a little?

I have to just get this off my chest and see if anyone else feels the same.
I bought my 60 gig PS3 at the end of June for the normal $599. Not only did the price drop by $100 a couple weeks later I also was not eligable for the 5 free movie offer by a week! I tried to take it back to Target where I bought it and they would not let me return it for the lower price because it was opened. More then the money I would have looooved the 5 free movies. Has anyone tried calling Sony to see if they would honor such a close buying date for the movies?

Not to be mean or anything, but why ask this question, 6-7 Months later?

Plus, I think the 5 Free movie offer from back then has expire and there's a new 5 free movie offer going on.

May of been a deal closer to that date, but it is so long ago now.. should of complained around that time instead of now..

I do not feel "ripped" btw, I got 60gb at launch.. happy with purchase

I dont see it like you got ripped. Think of it this way, everyone the bought a ps3 after the price drop with the 5 free got a sweet deal. Ps3 is well worth the money you paid and you should be proud you did spend the extra for you are a ps3 OG

btw I got a 20 gig the first week they came out and paid big bucks but then I also recently got the 40 gig with the movies and got a damn good deal at sony style. Im happy I got both when I did

I didn't get any free movies with my $599 60 GB PS3 I got last Christmas. I don't mind a bit.

It is too late now, but a little more complaining at Target and they should have matched the price within 30 days of purchase. Most stores do that. No offense but that is why I don't buy systems from Target. They are dicks. They wouldn't price match a blu-ray player for me for Christmas so I just bought it somewhere else...there loss.

I bought my 60G version of PS3 back in Nov 2006 for much more than you spent and never had any second thoughts about this purchase - by far the best investment in electronics I made in years. And I was not eligible for any free movies either.

the 60gb is a collectors item, it has all the goodies plus the EE chip. The newere models are all software now. you got 99% combatability, you could easiler resale that for more.

I bought my PS3 for $499 plus a free BR remote and a BR plus the 5 free offer. 3-4 months later, there is an 80gb PS3 with a pack in game, better deals and much better BRs in the 5 free offer. I dont feel too ripped bc it was my choice to get teh sytem when I did and I definetly could have waited

Even at $599, the PS3 is an incredible piece of hardware with a long life ahead of it!

Most electronics become obsolete over time, but because of its firmware updates the PS3 increases its value.

And quality-wise, the PS3 is very well engineered. Just compare the Xbox 360 with its high failure rate.

Be happy and enjoy it.

the 60gb version brand new unopened is around 750 dollars now on the interent. you can't find them any more in b&m(at least not that I am aware of). if the value of something goes up compared to what you paied it is not a rip off especially for electonic stuff

I bought the S300 player in June, 3 weeks before the 1st 5 free movie offer. I sent in the recept and UPC anyway, and got the movies in about 5 weeks. I heard this worked for someone else here too.

Not at all. It was one of the best purchases I made in years. High tech stuff always drops in price fairly rapidly, if you are an early adopter, you should be quite used to it.
