Question BluRay backward compatible to SACD

Hi y'all,

After I bought Philips VR2000, MD, LaserDisc, S-VHS etc., all standards that disappeared, and now posses SACD (and I'm happy with it!), I'm wondering if BluRay will be backward compatible to SACD... Anyone?

They're all different formats you were spouting.

With the exception of the PS3, none of the BD players coming out soon will be supporting SACD. Panasonic's is supposed to be a DVD-Audio player.

If you want a stand-alone BD/SACD player you may have to wait for the second generation of BD players or the first Denon/Marantz BD player.

Almost don't even dare to ask about a DVD-A/SACD capable player...any rumors about such a thing?

The Panasonic does DVD-A, according to the manual. As far as SACD, only the PS3 has that capability so far, though you will probably have to use HDMI to a compatible A/VR to listen to multichannel.

Yamaha's S2500 does play both, maybe this triggers the Yam people to do that again...

Well, as I pointed out before, the PS3 is the only one coming soon that will do SACD. I believe also that the forthcoming Blu-ray recorder from Phillips will also do SACD.

Finally: the first big electronic equipment chain in Holland (The Netherlands) advertised a BD-player: the Samsung, along with some BD-discs. To my big surprise: The Way Up by the Pat Metheny Group for € 14,99 ($ 19,34) which is very cheap as regular DVD's do € 21,99 ($ 28,37).

Is there any news of Yamaha? I consider buing their S2500, and wait a while for theid BD-player.

Pioneer's Elite DVD players are all SACD/DVD-A compatible, so I wouldn't doubt that maybe their 2nd generation Blu-ray player will also have this compatibility.
