Default HDMI 1.3 not backward compatible with 1.1?
Have Sony Blu-ray connected to Marantz SR4002 receiver with a quality HDMI cable. Receiver is 1.1 and is connected to Samsung 1.3 TV via HDMI. All new. HAVE SOUND, NO PICTURE. Samsung and Marantz said the receiver and the TV are not backward compatible. Is this true? She said connect the BD to the TV and use a audio optical for the sound. But that defeats the multi-channel.
So, could I have missed something here? Tried new cables, many many settings, and even shorter cables. Hooked BD to TV and there is no problem there. So is it the receiver and/or the compatibility or something else?
Marantz said step up to a 1.3 receiver. Really?
