New Goofy short "How To Hook Up Your Home Theatre" mentions Blu-ray! - Blu-ray Forum

Sorry if this has been mentionned before.
We had a familly outting today, and the consensus finally fell on National Treasure (not my first choice, mind you, but it was .. ok. Definitely -very- far from anything factual, but ok).

I had the pleasure to see a new Goofy short animation before the film, in the classic line of the "How to". This one was about Goofy getting everything you need for a brand spanking new HD Home theater system.

What marked me, beside the animation being quite funny, is that Disney totally showed their comitment with a very small but telling line in the vocie over.
Instead of merely listing "A HD player" among the items bought, it specifically said "A Blu Ray Player".
To be honest, I was trying to listen closely but the list was going fast, and I do not think a "HD DVD player" was mentionned, but this might call for another person to confirm

There you have it for the sceptics. Disney is so committed to the format they'll even put it -inside- their animation for X' sake.

yeah i saw that to. and i did distinctly hear Blu-ray... after that, i didn't listen to the rest...

Yeah, after Blu-ray I think he said something else-ray but HD-DVD was not mentioned. I smiled when I heard it.

National Treasure 2 was fun.

i didnt even pay attention to that short, missed the bluray part... i was so pissed at having about 10 previews plus commercials before it, i just wanted to watch the dang movie by then.

No mention of DUD. Amazing since we all know Disney is about to go neutral.

I love the National Treasure movies.. I am hoping page 47 of the president's book of secrets is movie number 3.

Can't wait for the BD's.

What was the point of that animation anyway?

In my mind, it made it seem like buying a home theater system was really complicated. This may even drive people away from Blu Ray!

I too noticed the Bluray mention in the Goofy Short. Sadly, my basement looks like his setup at times. I last counted seven remotes down there.

It's a throwback to the good ol' days when disney shorts were common place before a feature film. It is classic satire in the traditional disney way with some very well respected 2d animators I might add. It sounds like disney is going to continue to create new shorts for more of their tentpole features. If they are as good as this goofy one, I'll gladly take them.

My entire family enjoyed National Treasure BOS! I noticed the mention of the Blu-Ray player too.

And whattayahmean "far from factual"?

The lake "behind" Mount Rushmore is 8 miles away. I guess I doubt a traffic camera would provide the resolution needed to see anything important through the windshield of a moving car. Um... Everything else was totally believable!

From what I was told by a White House insider, page 47 discusses Blu-Ray's plans for world domination!!

Well, won't delve into details, but I was suprised at how far North in America (South Dakota? O.o) the Olmecs civilization went, among other things

This being said , I found the movie to be quite entertaining, so picking appart all its sillyness is beyond my intent

lol i wonder what it was they were talking about.

Im not sure, but i think they did mentioned HD player, not HDDVD but HD player, if was going quite fast, i did hear blu ray, dvd, LD.

Given that it has grossed $124M ten days in and has yet to open outside the USA I'd say that's a very safe bet. Personally I was a bit disappointed that they made the sequal setup so obvious, there's really no need for that given the theme of these movies.
