Default Convince me to sell my HDDVD's

Ok so i am currently on the fence about selling my hddvd stuff. I currently own 50 blu discs with a ps3 and 16 HDDVD's with the 360 add on. Im really considering getting rid of all my HDDVD stuff because right now it seems pretty pointless to own that format. Plus i havent even purchased an HDDVD since Transformers came out.
I want your opinions on why i should or shouldnt sell. Please help me decide!

if you sell them today you can get 5 bucks a piece for them.

if you sell them tommorow there is a good chance you will get a quarter for them.

id sell them now!

the war is coming to an abrupt end. don't get stuck with your crap.

I guess you could keep the HD-DVDs and use them for coasters when you have guess over watching Blu-Ray on your TV. It would make a good conversation starter.

You are losing all of your studio support and will not get many (if any) new releases after May 2008.

It's totally up to you, but if you're going to sell, do it sooner rather than later. I don't think there'll be much interest before long.

I've got a HUGE Dreamcast collection, but there's just no market for it... I sat on it too long... LOL

Rather than convince you one way or the other, I would like to recommend that you sell them altogether as a package - I think you'll get more money that way.
Maybe you could get $200 for the whole thing including the add-on?

I agree with Stockstar: sell them now. There's plenty of Fanbois out there that will snatch them up quick, still believing that this isn't the end, and that you're a fool for dumping your films and add-ons. They're going to be more-than-happy to buy it all. The only other option is to box them all up now, and put them away for a very long time, and then maybe in 10-15 years or so, they'll be more collectible, and you'll make some money then. That's a serious gamble, though, so I would stick with selling them off now...

Just read this forum and you will find plenty of reasons, from technical quality to obsolescence.

Agreed. It won't be much longer and no one will want to buy them. Get as much money as you can now!

Why even sell them? DId they stop playing when warner left? I still have some HD DVDS and I have no intention of getting rid of them. Now if i could replace them with Blus for a low price, then sure.

HD DVDs might sound like wet toilet paper today but they could sound like laserdisc tomorrow. :O

A few years ago, I decided to try and unload my laserdiscs en masse, all 500 of them. I compiled the list and sent it to Big Emma. I probably paid $15-17000 for them new. They offered me $500 for the lot. I ended up keeping them, since it would probably cost that much to ship them out.

Honestly mate, being as you have both formats available to you, through two consoles, I cant see any reason to sell them, might aswell harvest the best from both sides.. There wouldnt be much point in sellings your HD's for little money, just to replace them with BDs, your probably gonna hold on to the 360 for exclusive games anyway...

Default If you had a SA I would say keep it

but since you have an add on, with the potential for RROD lurking at every turn (on or off) I would be wary, so sell now if you can. E-bay is getting nuts.

I have HD DVD's with the xbox add-on, and I'm buying a PS3 next week to go Blu. There's no way I'm selling my HD DVD's. Some movies are still red only, and it's not like they're going to stop working any time soon.

The way I see it, if I sell my HD DVD's now, I might get something out of them, it will be at a loss. Then, I'd have to re-buy in Blu at an additional loss. Selling them off just doesn't make sense to me.

That said, while I'm not selling my HD DVD's, I'm also not buying any more of them either. I'm buying only Blu-ray going forward.
