Default PS3 to Samsung hl-s5687W routing question

Hi All,

I have a PS3 as my blu-ray player, A denon 987 receiver, and the 1080p samsung hl-s5687W. I have the ps3 connected to the receiver via HDMI and the receiver connected to the tv via HDMI as well.

I have been trying to get my optimal settings correct and it seems like i've run into a problem. I was watching a blu ray disc (the actual feature) and accidentally hit the info button on my tv remote and it said that the signal the tv was receiving was 1080 @ 60hz. My understanding was that the bluray would be 1080 @ 24hz.

I decided to go to the ps3 bluray disc settings and saw the 1080p 24hz setting. It was set to automatic. I decided to turn it ON. When I did that the tv went to the "unsupported mode" setting. I'm wondering if there is a problem with the television or if it is one of those tv's that doesn't support real 1080p 24hz. I've done some research online and it says it should.

Anyone have any suggestions or seen any issues like this?

Thanks
