Default Anyone else have this problem???

Every single blu ray i watch freezes at some random point during the film. the only solution is to turn off my ps3 and turn it back on as all bottons on the controller dont work - the whole system freezes. i've no problem games and standard dvds. EVERY SINGLE BLU RAY i watch freezes!!!!!! iv ignored it for this long so thought id post and see if anyone has the same problem.. i have all the latest updates. Oh by the way, when i turn the system back on and go back to the point of the film where it froze i have no further problems - the movie plays right through without a hitch..

I have never had it happen with a movie, but a handful of times with a game. Make sure it is well ventilated, try playing a movie while you have it in an open ventilated area. If it happens again call Sony because it should not be doing that every time you play a movie.

Running all day or not has nothing to do with overheating. The fans in the system need to keep it cool the whole time it is running, so if you have a bad fan it could easily overheat in as little as a few minutes.

I have a PS3 and have never had this problem. And I usually do have it running all day, doing Folding@Home when I'm not using it.

As jon s wrote, the typical warranty is 1 year. You should still be able to get it repaired.

The other issue is where you have your blu-ray player situated. Is there plenty of space to allow venting? Are the vents covered? Is it lying on carpet or placed on a shelf? Is it exposed to direct sunlight? Did you flash it improperly with bad firmware or interrupt the firmware update?

There is plenty of space for ventilation, plenty. The vents are not covered. its placed on a shelf (proper tv stand) and def not in direct sunlight. Any update i get is official and never interpted! aagghh!!! i've no idea what is causing it..

I think your best bet would be to check if it has been a year or not yet. If you still have a few days left start prepping the process for repairs and see if anyone can offer you a solution in a day or two.

If no one can offer you a solution you should send it back in for immediate repairs.

This happens with rental BD's frequently. Usually they need to be cleaned better. Occasionally it's a scratch.

it can be 2 mins in or 2 mins from the end... absolutely at any stage of the film but ALWAYS just once... once restarted, it never happens again

I believe even in the UK you have a 1 year warranty and therefore it is covered for just about 2 months. Hurry and call Sony at least find out what they say.

I never saw much need for the info bar and turned it off right away. However, the only time it has froze is during networked games, like Warhawk. I am almost willing to bet it is a network problem that causes the system to freeze or is game specific. Even if not either of these two it hardly ever happens so I am not concerned.
