Default LPCM Question

Asking for help from you audio gurus. Whether I get the PS3 or a standalone BD player in the next few weeks I want to be able to take advantage of the PCM audio tracks that are getting such rave reviews.

My question is will I be able to do that on my Lexicon MC-1. It was agreat pre/pro (actually still is) but is getting a little long in the tooth. With no analogue inputs does this mean my audio options are limited to ful bit DTS/DD only?

I would love to see a seperate thread where everyone lists their audio setup.

PCM can only be passed over HDMI and analog outs. If you don't have HDMI or analog input on your pre/pro, you're out of luck.

If you mean that your Lexicon MC-1 "does not" have "multichannel" analog input, this is true, unless the player can 'down-mix' from multi-channel pcm to two channel pcm and send it to your Lexicon that way. Otherwise, yes, you'll be required to stay digital or pcm Stereo.

I thought Lexicons have PC-motherboard-like insides, where you can upgrade to a particular board as and when it's available? If not, well that sucks.

Like another user said, you can only do PCM via analog or HDMI. With the PS3, only via the HDMI.
