Just because they said no price cut doesn't mean the rumor is false. Although I think it's probably premature and spring would be a better time for one, so I don't buy the rumor myself just yet.

But no company is going to give any signal they are planning a price drop in advance. They will all deny one till it happens. Admitting a future price cut is coming soon is the same as saying don't buy one now, it will be cheaper soon.

They wont drop the price until the feel the console would benefit from one. It seems to be selling better at this current level, so they will keep it there until stales go stale or they feel they can afford to do it.

LOL, everytime Sony is silent and doesnt make any comments or even refutes a PS3 discount rumor, they turn around and announce it a few weeks later. LOL!

Everytime there was a rumor about a PS3 pricing changes or discount, they all became true a few weeks later. So now that Sony is denying it, I am even MORE sure that there will indeed be a $299 PS3. thats the only to kill the Wii and Xboxb360 compition, plus finish off any hopes HDDVD had to bouncing back.

A price cut is coming. Sony announced that they cut costs by 50% per unit.

They can and will pass this savings on to potential customers. They're playing catch-up to the 360 and Wii, and they also want to get more Blu players into homes.

They will probably cut the prices at the beginning of March, that's my gut feeling.

How long did they deny the entire 40 GB PS3 for $399? How long did they deny the 60 GB PS3 price cut from $599 to $499? How long did they deny the 60 GB PS3 being phased out? How long did they deny the 80 GB PS3?

The $299.99 PS3 will definitely make more people buy Blu-Ray Thanks for letting the cat out of the bag Sony

What is the history on price cuts and how long it took before they happened with consoles? Has anyone recorded that info?

So how many times has Sony denied price cuts? Hmmmmm...they have denied price cuts up until the day the cut is announced.

A denial is meaningless. We all know that by now.
I dont know when the next price drop will be, but it definitely wont be this month and probably not feb either (so as to not piss off people who bought it during christmas)

Id imagine March would be a prime time.

Wasn't Warner also saying "we're not going exclusive" before they announced they'd be Blu only?
