Default Sony KDL-40W3000 vs Panasonic TH-42PZ700U

Well I posted in the sticky link up top of this forum about getting a W3000 in 4 days... after reading alot about the 42" Panasonic 42PZ700U I am leading towards the Panasonic except for the part about *7 blinking lights* meaning one of the boards is dead and other issues.

I heard its way under 10% in terms of how many of the models were affected with this power supply type of issue. Can someone shed some light on this searching on AVSFORUM shows so many links and dead ends on the issue that its hard to discern anything.

And then I read about "clouding" issues on the KDL sets I don't know what to do I'd really like the better black levels of the plasma plus my tv room is dimly lit with hardly any glare any time of the day.

Thanks

If your usage will be mostly movies then the panasonic is a great choice.
I own the w3000 and would say the PZ700 is the better TV for Blu ray movies and broad cast tv.

the w3000 is a great gaming LCD, but turn the lights off for a movie and the black level goes to hell (though better than many other LCDs).

the PZ700s HD image is impressive.

there is always a certain percentage of faults and its pot luck if you get a good TV or a bad one. I would not fear the panasonic issues too much. The clouding issue is more serious IMHO

PZ700 for the highest HD image possible. I game on my 77u as well. It has no problem at all. I dunno about anyone else but to me plasma gaming feel like good old CRT TV to me. It has no clouding, image blurr, or low black level issues as far as I am concern. I originally was consider W3000 but I am glad to pass up and went for a 77U. Cant go wrong with PANNY

Oh just a quick note to remind peeps that Panasonic are releasing the PZ800 range in the next mth or so. They are absolutly awesome with 30000:1 contrast, better brightness, 1080p24 native support etc etc.

Might be worth waiting just a tad, as these really do look amazing. panasonic sets catch up with the Kuro range and most likly at cheaper pricing.

Dam i just might have to get one
