Default B. Hunt No More Advertising from HD DVD

WOW...A surprise Sunday post from B. Hunt informing that The Digital Bits will not accept advertising of any form from HD DVD, because the format war is over. I will not post the article here, since it is always good for Bill to get some "hits" in his place. Darn it, I should have rephrased the title of the thread. It is a little deceiving, gives the impression that HD DVd will stop advertising the format. Sorry about that.

You can still fix it, I believe. Just hit Edit, then when you're editing, hit Edit again (yes, strange but true).

First post! Yeah for me!!! Anyways, good news from the DB front.

Sidenote, anyone else having trouble accessing their site? My browser just times out and I've cleared my cache, cookcies, pretty much everything I can think of. The site just doesn't work (which is a shame!)

The RED-rum boys are going to have a field day with this move, as Bill ("The Shill", their words, not mine) Hunt is their mortal enemy.

To hell with them. I applaud his move and am proud to have someone who champions the hi-def cause with such passion, as Bill does, on the side of Big Blu.

The fact that Digital Bits would be willing to sacrifice income from HD-DVD PRG in order to avoid a conflict of interest, and to maintain integrity, really displays where their heart is at...and that is to promote the future of High-def for the benefit of all fans who love movies.

Nope, no trouble accessing the site here. Here's the relevant stuff:

The other thing that we wanted to let you all know today, is that we've officially stopped accepting advertising from the HD-DVD camp. Since the format war began, both camps have been free to advertise on The Bits, within limits of good taste of course. We even allowed the HD-DVD camp to continue advertising on The Bits, if they wanted to do so, after we officially endorsed Blu-ray Disc. But now that Warner has made their decision to abandon HD-DVD, we've obviously said we no longer believe that HD-DVD can win the format war. As such, we've decided that we're no longer comfortable accepting advertising money from the HD-DVD camp for that format. We actually made this decision - and informed our ad partners - shortly after returning from CES, but especially given our editorial on Friday, we wanted to let all of you know as well. You may occasionally see ads from a retailer with an HD-DVD logo (we believe Amazon has lately been running banners promoting sales of both high-def formats), but as of a couple weeks ago, we are officially no longer accepting or running specifically HD-DVD related ads from Toshiba, Microsoft or any member of the HD-DVD Promotions Group. We just figured this was the right thing to do going forward, so there you go.
Welcome to the forum!

Great job Bill! I think we will start to see more and more web site doing this soon as well. I hope Paramount and Universal are really eating money left and right for not releasing on Blu-ray!

Bill is a well-known, well-connected and, contrary the beliefs of those red-minded folks at HDD, influential figure. Since his agenda is contrary to their own, their only recourse is to claim he's a sellout/shill/idiot etc etc blah, blah blah.

Screw 'em. Unlike Bill, they're just a lot of inefectual hot air.

The red ants need to find something more useful to do with their time, like selling their players on E-Bay, and buying Blu-ray, before it's too late. Of course some of them are so blind, they can't see the forest for the trees.

Why am I not surprised. HDDigest, for a neutral site, is a haven for the most biased of HD-DVD supporters.
