Default Batman & Robin is an amazing Demo film

Now what is a demo film you may ask?

It's the kind of film that you use to show off your new TV or tech.

For a 35mm film, Batman & Robin is gorgeous, especially with all the neon lights, the 4k transfer is near perfect.

I'm not sure about the audio (since i only use built in speakers, i know i'm a horrible person ) but i can't think of anything better than that movie for the visual quality of 4K.

What do you guys think?

Batman & Robin is a great film and people who can't appreciate it should be put down.

Batman & Robin is an amazing film, period. Along with Batman Forever, Batman Returns and of course, Batman 89.

And I cannot begin to describe how amazing it is to be getting Keaton's Batman back in The Flash.

The soundtracks, costumes, set pieces and cinematographies of those Batman films far outweigh and exceed the more realsitic attempts of Nolan.

They are the encapsulation of what artistry should strive to be.

Great direction top-to-bottom from Schumacher. I never get bored watching his Batman movies. He knew exactly what tone he wanted and directed the hell out of them.

The last great Batman film until Batman v Superman in 2016.

Every morning, Batman Forever, one of the worst films of the last fifty years, wakes up & thanks Joel Schumacher for creating Batman & Robin, a somehow even more abysmal film which takes the heat off Forever.

I really like forever but B&R is a train wreck. Uma Thurman’s hammy performance was really the only thing in the movie I liked. I used to like it but over the years I liked it less and less.

You could say the same thing about Michael Bay's Transformers. Doesn't mean I want to expose people to that just to show off my theater.

I like Batman Forever a lot, but Batman & Robin is a far lesser film. That said, there's aspects to it I actually like. Schwarzenegger's performance as Mr. Freeze is funny yet also dramatic, and I liked the chemistry between Batgirl & Robin. What wrecked the film for me is the absence of Val Kilmer, Uma Thurman as Poison Ivy, and the rushed treatment of Bane.

B&R has always been the demo film of the four on each format though all of them are visual treats regardless.
As a film it was a rushed and manipulated film that couldn’t possibly overcome the constraints placed on it. When it was released the creative personnel received the blame and virtually everyone tried to block it from their minds or incessantly kick it to the curb further.

I had to come to terms with it not being the Forever sequel I wanted and understand the whole production process. If more people took the time to look at the film seriously in this manner they would be far less derogatory towards it.

There are some good things in the film amidst all the stuff that becomes lovably goofy to groan along with. The absolute best moment is held between Bruce and Alfred while the latter is essentially on his deathbed. The conversation about Batman being at his core Bruce’s impossible attempts to conquer death is without question one of the finest moments of the genre and better than anything in the Nolanverse. Akiva Goldsman did really nail the Bruce-Alfred relationship in ways no one else has in live action.

If you’re not a fan of the film but want to revisit it, the novelization is a bit more serious and has some deleted bits.

I never watched Batman Forever or Batman & Robin. Batman Returns was such a horrible, wretched, disappointing experience in 1992 that I was turned off from the series forever. Starting to read the comics in the '90s also showed me in retrospect how inadequate the story in the 1989 Batman was. Never go see a comic book movie from someone who says he doesn't know how to read comic books, i.e. Tim Burton. Batman Returns isn't a superhero movie in any way. It's one man's sick, disturbed, confused fantasy. Thank God for Chris Nolan and Zack Snyder for giving us the first intelligent, meaningful Batman movies that are inspired by the actual comic books.
