OKay so I have an optical cable hooked from my ps3 to my receiver and there is a problem that annoys me. Whenever I go to turn on the receiver and when a video is in the process of playing there is about a second of silence then there is like static pop and then the audio starts playing. Once the audio starts playing there is no problem but the static pop happens everytime there is a time period of no audio and when the audio goes back on it pops, anyway to fix this?

There is usually a capacitor/filter in a receiver that prevents that kind of "pop". You get it when you have the transformer and output capacitors built up, with no signal flowing sound. It's normal, so manufacturers put in the filter to keep you from jumping out of your shoes. Sounds like yours finally gave out. |

http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Sony-...oductDetail.do The Sony is HDMI, but only 6.1 channels. If you're set on 5.1, it's fine. http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Onkyo...oductDetail.do This one is HDMI pass-through, meaning it doesn't do HDMI audio; you need to go with the optical cable still. Everything else is more money...you might need to do something, though; that popping can blow the tweeters on your speakers. Voice Of Experience here. |

Here's one more question, I'm looking at the one with 7.1 and I currently have a Bose receiver and the speakers hook to the receiver with what looks like an s-video cord not sure what it's called but I don't know if that will work with that receiver will it?

Something is VERY odd...look, hang on to your receiver, save up the bucks, and get a true HDMI 7.1 box down the line. I bet there will be huge model changes by August, wait for a few months and live with component for now.

Bose 301 speakers are OK, but the little tiny guys are a total pain to re-wire. Do you have an Acoustimass system? |

I've never had that problem with an optical cable - usually when one goes bad, you simply don't get any sound. You can try a new cable. If you don't want to go broke, Lowe's Home Improvement stores have them for under $20.00, I think Phillips is the brand. I got a short one for about $12. Worth a try...
