You can add this to your list - Toshiba's Fourth Quater Profits are down 25% and as a result, share offerings will drop too, and shareholder dividends will shrink. I'm glad I'm not an executive in their HD DVD division . Soon, at the Board of Directors Meeting, expect heads to roll, especially after spending 2.7 million dollars promoting a dying format during the Super Bowl. [Jim]

We should keep this list going for the year. I wonder when Toshiba will join the list.

Just playing devils advocate here but blu ray is or was giving away free blu rays last month and some people think it was what caused that sudden influx of sales shown on the NPD report which some say is the reason the charts looked differently the following week however Blu still being in the lead....and no I am not a troll......

The BDA is not Toshiba... and thus doesn't count FREE Blu-rays as sales.

Ok but how come HD DVD sales plummeted so much then? The argument that there are a lot of new Blu-Ray owners because of the TV deal may apply to why Blu-Ray sales went up, but it doesn't account for why HD DVD sales went so far down.
Also, how many players do you think sold to be the sole reason for a swing this large? A lot is the answer. No it's more reasonable to assume that this is largely because of all the positive Blu news that's been around lately. The free players may have helped numbers a bit, but there's no way they had this big an impact.
