Question need help with speaker system

where can i find a decent 5.1 or 7.1 speaker setup for under $1000?

(if you suggest a 5.1, can you also tell me what two i can add later to make it a 7.1)

and if anyone can suggest anything from canada (like from best buy or future shop) that would be better...but isnt necessary

thanks

(i heard polk is good quality, any thoughts?)

You might like this setup. $999 and has gotten very good reviews from magazines,CNET and other reviewers. Just do a search for other reviews.
NOTE!!! SPEAKER STANDS ARE EXTRA. but you can mount them or do whatever you want with them.

I think that Klipsch makes a very nice sounding speaker system and they have pleanty of systems to choose from ranging from $500 and up.

all of these speaker systems can output hd audio as long as they are connected to an hd receiver, correct?

I have had a lot of success with adjusting my receivers EQ and have been more than satisfied with the highs and especially the lows.

I have had a pair of Cerwin Vegas E712s for a few years now when I used to listen to a lot of 2 channel audio and still do. Instead of getting rid of them.I purchased a CLS-6C center, two CLS6 bookshelfs for surrounds and a CLS-12S subwoofer. I was actually quite surprised with the outcome. I do have a serious low end and the mids and highs do keep up with this combination.

All my friends think I paid quite a bit for this sound but Cerwin Vega does know what they are doing with speakers.

You may want to check out HSU Research & SVS (SVS homebase is just North of me 30 minutes maybe) These two companies are great affordable choices too!!!! They don't just make subwoofers.

Hsu Research makes excellent speakers for the price.

http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/enthusiast1.html

Canada is known for making some of the best speakers in the world. Companies like Paradigm, Energy, Mirage, Axiom, PSB, etc. are excellent Canadian speakers. They all benefit from the research done by National Research Council in Ottawa. Go to some of the specialty shops in Toronto area besides Best Buy and Future Shop and look at some of the better quality speakers.

These JBL speakers are decent.

I'm now a firm believer that spending allot more money on some top of the line speakers is the best decision for a quality home entertainment system. Try Paradigm if you can. Killer sound and a lifetime of quality. You can spend $500, 5 or 6 times over your life and never be quite satisfied or just buy one high end set that you'll never replace.

When I buy more speakers I will spend more money than I probably should because I don't want to say "damn, I should have gone with better speakers".

My parents have had there speakers for 25 years and there still ticking. They had to replace the foam because it was deteriorating. I don't care if you buy $10,000 speakers the foam still will deteriorate over 25 years.

Before I buy new speakers I am going to do reseach until I am Blu in the face. I don't think it will change what I will buy though, I am looking at the Paradigm Studio line, maybe the 100. I probably won't buy any speakers for a year or so.

I have read at least 20 articles on Paradigm and they all say the same thing there a high performance speaker at a mid range price.

Any speaker will output any signal you put into it, even a $ 20 pair from Radio Shack assuming they have speaker wire inputs. They will work, not well mind you but they will work.
