Default 5.1 Speaker System help.....

I recently bought an onkyo 605 receiver and I was thinking of buying the polk 5.1 speaker system ( http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1218046802946 ) but then I saw a 5.1 boston acoustics speaker system ( http://www.amazon.com/Boston-Acousti...6579678&sr=1-1 ). What are you´re thoughts, which one do you prefer?

They both are very identical in terms of specs. However, I'd give the slight edge to the Bostons.

neither. save a little longer and piece together your own speakers. even if you have to start with just your 2 mains and work from there, its a better way to go than a HTIB. Check on craigslist. people sell really nice complete speaker sets on there everyday.

+1....save up for a good pair of fronts and center first...otherwise you'll regret it when you eventually find out how much sound your missing....and you go out and buy new speakers again shortly hereafter.

Build slow as everyone has said,

FYI, there are Def. Techs Bi-pols BP6B on sales at 6ave & onecall.com for around $297 a pair, or I just got some Energy C-300s for $250 a pair @ wwstereo.com. There are some good prices out there right now, shop and you can find them.

ok, so it seems better to build my home theater setup slowly, I actually found these http://www.amazon.com/JBL-Northridge.../ref=de_a_smtd on my house and I was thinking of using them while saving up. They must`ve been here for around 10 years, give or take. What do you think? will they work? I couldn`t find if they had magnetic shielding, what do you guys think?

Try to audition speakers and find out which line you prefer and go from there. Do not only audition speakers in the Big Box stores like Best Buy. If you can, go to a true Audio store.

If you have a Flanner's near you, the BP6B's are $249 apiece right now. I just got a set and really love them. Still waiting on my center to come in though.
