I love my 360, but i refuse to play games just to get acheivments....if it
comes in the normal course of gaming cool, but to pay or even rent a game
just to get acheivements is stupid

I wouldn't rent or buy lame ones just for achievements. But I definately found myself replaying certain games more often to get them all. It does add a little more replayability to them and is a good online status thing to make friends jealous

I seemed to have a knack for being able to get some of the ones that were virtually impossible to get.

that video is stupid. I like the getting the achievements, as long as I'm the one getting them. never knew anyone ever paid for them.

Oh, come on! You can't tell me that this literal translation of the OH SOOOOOOO popular term "achievement *****" wasn't entertaining. I know several people who obssess about achievements to the point that they prefer the PS3, they hate MOST Xbox360 games, but they still play these games that they hate 4 or 5 times in order to get all of the achievements. That's why it is so damn funny.

I can't view the link at work but will say I don't play my PS3 nor Wii as much because it doesn't have achievements. They are bragging rights to your friends assuming they are in to them as well.

It's like striving to get the high score in Pac-Man years ago.

I play many games I otherwise would have never touched. Some were stinkers and some were actually fun but I don't regret going after the points. I'd be willing to bet the rental agencies don't mind either as it spurs interest in renting games that would not have moved otherwise.

If the PS3 had achievements all along I'd be willing to bet that many here would wear that number like a badge of honor.

Then what happens to your "bragging rights" ? Lol. Down the tubes!

IMO - games are games. Could care less if you get some medal or new skin or unlocked a level. It's just a game and at the end of the day - it gets turned off.

What does the RRoD have to do with it? You send off your box but you keep your harddrive. Your live account is retrievable online anyway so it doesn't matter. But I get your point, it's fun to bash the 360 here.

I have to confess to buying and playing games for achievements, i'm now buying games on ps3 to try and get away from that.

i was really, really bad with them. i woudl take vacations from work just to get them. i quit though and feel a lot better. its much more fun to game just to game. try it.

I don't mind Drake's Fortune style achievments that actually do something for you, but points for bragging rights is ridiculous. Some of the Dead Rising achievments were fun to get though.
