I don't think this movie has even seen a legitimate region 1 DVD yet. It really is worth tracking down for genre fans.

I'm with you on that one. Who knows maybe we'll see a Japanese Blu-Ray and we can import it.

http://www.hkflix.com/xq/asp/title.B.../qx/titles.htm

I've ordered from them many times and they have a wonderful selection of asian films and region-free dvd players.

Don't order from Amazon, they're all bootlegs

Any Japanese DVD will lack subs, long story short Toei is pissy that no one wanted to give it a Crouching Tiger size release in the states, even after it was explained to them repeatedly that cutting it down to an R would require removing half the movie (kids killing kids=NC-17 automatically for the most part)

Maybe Universe Laser and Video or the Korean licensor will include subs

Buy from the HKFlix link and help keep an importer of legit Asian DVDs in buisiness. Any of the R0 ones will work.

That's probalby the best one for you

And avoid the sequel like the plague

Oh a LOT of people wanted it here, they just refused to agree to Toei's ludicrous terms

I had an essentially blank check to chase it for a major label once, which is how I found out about Toei's pissyness

i thought the stuff bought from amazon and not through private sellers was all legit?
so which do you guys consider to be the "best" version, as far as maintaining the original vision, because there seems to be endless amount of versions.

Amazon has bootlegs, especially of Asian cinema and anime leak in from time to time.

These were all from private sellers BTW

The Korean Region 3 version is the best out there

I liked the first one, but the second battle royale just takes it to another level, definitely a movie i'd love to see on blu as well

Don't buy through amazon please. None of the sellers are selling legitmate versions

Buy through the HKFlix link instead. That way you know you're getting a legit, licensed disc and supporting more Asian film in America. The bootlegs are the reason why so much never makes it here
