Default Onkyo blu-ray player...

Will you buy the ONKYO blu-ray player when it is released?

Leave your feedback, and add a vote as you go....

I definately will. TOTAL=1.

Onkyo is a great CE company without a doubt. I prefer Pioneer Elite, Denon, Marantz and Harman Kardon. All currently make blu players or are in the process making them.

Considering Onkyo's planned HD-DVD player was being OEM'ed from Toshiba. I suspect their 1st BD player will be supplied by some other BD manufacturer.

The fact that Onkyo was not only supporting HDDVD but also just rebadging a Toshiba and calling it a day doesn't instill any sort of confidence in the brand. I've never owned anything by them and I probably never will.

I would buy an Onkyo player the fact that i have an Onkyo receiver TX-SR875 its better in my opinion to have a complete unified system.

It will be interesting to see if Onkyo's upscale product line - Integra - will introduce a Blu-ray Disc Player before or at CEDIA. Integra is a solid built product. Expect good things from that division !!! [Jim]

I think they just did that to get a player out quickly. I've never noticed that with any of their other products though.

i respect that opinion but it couldn't be farther from the truth. unified systems mean nothing.

different manufacturers do different things well and other things poorly. matching your system would be a big negative.

sony makes good blu-ray players. if i wanted an upconverter i would get an Oppo. if i wanted a receiver i would NOT get a Sony. Would never get Sony speakers.

I own a Yamaha receiver because I love the way they sound. I would never buy Yamaha speakers because they are garbage.

You buy what the best choice for each component is. and if yo ucant afford the best you buy what best fits your budget.

you never buy components so the names match.

I partly agree, but would add that there are added features built-in to players, receivers and televisions which improve or increase functionality with components from the same brand. For Instance, a pioneer elite television attached to a pioneer elite receiver through hdmi has more easily implemented technologies coinciding with the Kuro-link. Some are inconsequential, such as instant-on, others are useful, such as Home media gallery interactivity, none are necessary.
