Onkyo to ship blu-ray player in late 2008

New Player will work ONKYO’s High-Definition A/V Receivers to Realize Full Potential of High-Definition Media

July 1st, 2008

OSAKA – ONKYO Corporation has announced that it will release its first Blu-ray Disc Player for the international market in late 2008. This player is designed to partner Onkyo’s high-definition A/V receivers equipped with full HDMI processing of 1080p video and decoding of Dolby® TrueHD and DTS-HD™ Master Audio surround sound formats.

Onkyo was among the first home theater manufacturers to offer full audio and video processing capabilities for HD formats such as Blu-ray Disc. The company’s A/V receivers deliver a complete high-definition experience with onboard decoding of Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio codecs. The release of this Blu-ray Disc player will be timely given that the second-generation of high-definition-capable Onkyo A/V receivers is now available. Product details and pricing will be announced prior to delivery.

Due to a policy of continuous product improvement, Onkyo reserves the right to change specifications and appearance without notice.

Good to hear they have come around.
Hopefully it won't be $799 like their last HD attempt.
It shouldn't be since it appears that this will be bitstreaming only like the Panny BD-30

Onkyo Plans Blu-ray Player by End of the Year

Posted July 1, 2008 08:04 AM by Josh

Blu-ray Disc Onkyo has announced that they plan to release a Blu-ray player to the international market by the end of the year. The player, which has yet to be named or fully speced, will match Onkyo's line of high-definition capable A/V receivers and will support decoding of the popular Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio soundtracks.
Really this post said it decodes. It was only on the front homepage right there for everyone to see.
Some people never look or read anything.

Ah, my bad.
I only looked at "This player is designed to partner Onkyo’s high-definition A/V receivers equipped with full HDMI processing of 1080p video and decoding of Dolby® TrueHD and DTS-HD™ Master Audio surround sound formats." which also implies bitstreaming of all codecs.
