Default I just got the Onkyo 605 and need set up help

I have everything hooked up right, but on the PS3 what should I set up for HDMI Liner PCM or Bitstream? Also why isnt TrueHD showing as an option on the PS3 for the HDMI cord? Any help would be awesome.

the PS3 internally decodes TrueHD into PCM, so your receiver should display "Multichannel"

hit the "display" button on the ps3 bd remote if you have one, it will show you what audio codec is playing.

I keep my PS3 set on bitstream and only when I want to hear Dolby TrueHD do I change it to Linear PCM. (you can easily switch between the two during movie play by hitting the triangle button and going to "A/V Settings")

thats the short and sweet answer...but if you want 5.1 matrixed into 7.1 from the 605 bitstream would be ideal.

I only have a 5.1 set up for now, so I guess the LPCM is ok.

You are speaking of the bitrate right? Should be the same either way.

this sound like the Video bitrate...is that what you are asking?

Uncompressed PCM is usually between 4-8Mbps
