I am using a Sharp Aquos BDHP20U. I am a little confused about these audio tracks on the Blu-ray discs. For example The Golden Compass has two advanced audio tracks:
English: DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 English: Dolby Digital 5.1 EX For the Sharp I am using the 5.1 outputs input into a Lexicon MC12 5.1 analog processing through Lexicon's 5.1 Logic 7 codex. So how to I get the DTS track from the Golden Compass BD into my Lexicon? If I select on the BD the DTS program what will output from the Sharp's 5.1 analog jacks? How do I confirm what I am playing? I am confused on how these new audio formats are processed and how they are converted from the BD to the Surround Processor (Lexicon) to the speakers. If I use the digital coax I assuming I will just get the traditional 5.1 DD program for the disc, and can not get these new audio formats through a compressed bit streamed digital connection. If I am not getting the new codex's out of the 5.1 jacks on the Sharp, what am I getting? The Golden Compass only shows a choice of two audio programs. Can someone enlighten me on how one takes advantage of these new audio formats. Thanks |

The Sharp player doesn't decode the DTS HD MA internally so you will get the DTS 5.1 core decoded and sent out the analog jacks. It doesn't look like it will bitstream it via HDMI either so upgrading your receiver and mating it with that player still won't net DTS HD MA.

Upgrading his Lexicon would take several thousand dollars.
To the original poster, the best you can get is the DTS core track, use your coax digital link and select the DTS track in the disc menu.It will still sound very good. Do you have this film? bill |
