Spain "[rec]" (Import, May 28, 2008)

Although you'll have to import it, for anyone who is interested in the upcoming remake "Quarantine" should check out "[REC]" which is what this October's American redux is obviously based on.

Heads up... I contacted Xploited Cinema and Tony thinks that the Blu-Ray will be Region B only. I guess the distributor tends to region-lock their releases.

I'm really looking forward to it and will be ordering it, but be warned it wont be cheap (around £30 for anyone in the UK is a safe bet!)

Very confusing... the review says that the disc is Region ABC, but if you go to the main page of the site and try to order the disc from DVDGo.com, their site says the disc is Region B. Can anyone confirm which is true?

I just checked the Blu-Ray Region Code Info site http://bluray.liesinc.net/index.php?region=b
and the only Filmax Blu-Ray they list (Perfume) is an all region release. Hope for us Region A fans???

Zona are more likely to have tested it but dont know if they have or not.

I have [rec] and the back of the case only says Region 2 but I cant test if its locked or not because I only have a region 2 ps3.

Can tell i've been working too hard today! I looked at the back of my [rec] case and it says its zone "2" and had a momentary loss of common sense!!

Still i think dvdgo are just going by the back of the box (they were smart enough to notice that the box should have meant B!).

Word of warning for those who havent seen the film.

i saw it at the Spanish Film Festival and the copy I saw in the cinema was standard def. Not sure if it was intentional to give it the handycam look befitting the story, or if it was only a standard def presentation for the film festival.

Anyway I thought people should know that if it was shot on standard def like it appears, it aint going to look any better on Blu-ray than on DVD.

If you have seen 28 Days Later on blu-ray, [Rec] is like that but without the professional lighting and sound.

I've read that it's 1080i and a VC-1 codec, but shot on video. Behind the scenes photos show the movie being shot on camcorders.

That is pretty bad of them.

I ordered mine from fnac.es as they ended up being slightly cheaper. They were very good (sent it the day before release via overnight delivery from spain to England!) but their site is in spanish so needed to use an online translator (yahoo's babefish translator) to get through the ordering process!

There are also a few copies on ebay which might make your life easier

Same here, overnight delivery from fnac.es and no problems whatsoever. While ordering they didn't give me any other options than the expensive overnight delivery, but REC is so awesome it was well worth the price.
