It's a 2 fold situation.
I know the following is true - Your monitor and video card MUST BE HDCP capable in order to play BD movies on your computer via HDMI/DVI. You can play them as well through VGA and not have to worry about HDCP on the monitor side. Best bet- get a used 2407/8 24" Wide screen Dell. HDCP compliant on the DVI/HDMI inputs. They are relatively cheap too. |

That from my understanding is not allowed to be discussed here. Either way, I am sure the OP does not want to rip every movie he has before he plays it. This would take in excess of several hours for each film. |

Most PC's need a dedicated hardware decoder (Radeon HD and Nivdia 8xxx), to play BD so you have HDCP for the hardware. I'll just go with a HDCP monitor, you can buy a 720p one for a small amount of money (1080p is a waste, the difference is so minor for small screens, not noticiable even on a 32 inch screen). Anyway AnyDVD HD, is like half of the cost of a new HDCP monitor, so go with the HDCP monitor, and go legal, rather using illegal stuff. Why pay over $100 for a software that removes AACS???????? While you can do it legally with HDCP!!!!

I think your outta luck there as the 7600GT isn't HDCP compliant and i doubt your monitor is either.
So unless you have the cash for a new one of each your gonna have to either stick to analog, take a visit to Slysoft or not watch blu on your PC ! As VGA is working for you can you hook this up to your Dell? If you can just use that ![]() |

Many(most?) 7600 GT cards are HDCP compliant. Even this laptop's GeForce Go 7600 GT is HDCP compliant. |

http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=2017 Gigabyte GV-NX76T256D-RH Silent Geforce 7600GT Apparently is NOT HDCP compliant... muahahahaha. Damn it sucks to be me. I have two of them too. Ok, now it makes sense... and I only bought this thing a year ago if that. Looks like an 8xxx model is in order and I'll have a stockpile of video cards. hehe. Jeff |

Okie dokie... so... I went out and bought a new monitor for it... now it works great. Picked up a Samsung 245BW (24" 1920 x 1200) wow, looks alright... altho not the best picture... it's fine for $369 CAN. It is surely HDCP compatible. Wow, what a pain. Stuff doesn't even have to be broken to warrant being replaced... what a freakin' industry

I don't think I will trade down from a 1920x1200 monitor to 720p. It is more productive using a 1920x1200 WUXGA two page monitor over one having only 1024x768 XGA. It's a big time saver for me to be able to view a web page and a word app at the same time. Why open and close windows? Also, remember you are sitting much closer to a computer screen then a TV. It's that resolution/screen size/distance thing. Also, 1080p is best when we map 1:1.

Yeah, it is a common mistake about screen resolution vs size and viewing distance.
From across the room, yeah - get a big ass display/HDTV. Sitting at a computer, 1920x1200 17" screen(like this laptop at ~20" viewing distance) is ideal! Can't beat having that realestate either! Two browsers side by side, a browser and a video/TV picture running next to it, PLAYING A Blu-ray Disc... |
