Default so what's the difference between the 400, 800 and 1000 ultra hdmi monster cables?

this is just a short background so just bear with me

so me and my mom were at circuit city and we saw this tv that looked amazing. it was on full display, hooked up to a bluray player, hdmi connection(of unknown brand) and it had potc:at world's end o playin(no crappy demo disc). I couldnt believe my eyes, the picture was so clear i thought i could touch johnny depp(and im not exagerratin). this is the tv: http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Panas...oductDetail.do

so we bought it, but wen we got home it didnt looked nearly as good as at the store. we even rearranged our living room cuz we heard that the further away u are from the tv the better it looks. but we think it may be our hdmi cable. we have a basic RCA hdmi cable and we r thinkin about gettin a new one. and we came across MONSTER hdmi cables but they had a 400hd, 800hd, and 1000hd ultra versions and we were wonderin wats the difference and is it worth. would rly appreciate the help. thanks

EDIT: this is our tv: http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Panas...oductDetail.do

NO, its not the HDMI cable. You'd know if it's the HDMI cable because if it was the HDMI cable you wouldn't have a picture at all whatsoever. HDMI cables use a digital signal. It's either going to be a 1 or 0 - on or off. The idea that better HMDI cables are needed is from the analog cable days which were subject to interference, but HDMI is pure digital so theres no concern about interference. A $3 HDMI cable from monoprice.com and a $150 HDMI cable from monster are going to yield the same picture.

It's either your TV settings or the store had the settings amped out like crazy.
Most TVs look like crud out of the box anyways.

I'd search the forums for your TV's settings that users find to be the best they can muster. In most cases these are calibrated settings for the best color reproduction.

That is Monster's "speed rating". It is a Monster gimmick that will surely catch on to alot of other cable manufacturers. If you can, go back to the store and see if you can get a look at the menu settings on the display TV. I am sure they are quite a bit different than yours are.

If curiosity is killing you about the cable, you can always buy one, try it, and take it back if you don't like it.

Monster HDMI cables..... they make something for everyone.....

400 is JUNK, any yard-sale A/V junk will use it......... 800 is Good, connect it to that nice new equipment you saved up all your pennies for..... but 1000 is for kick-ass equipment that goes ONE LOUDER..... most just need the 800, but if your Amp goes ONE LOUDER...then you better get the 1000

Light travels at a speed of 186,000 miles a second or 700 million miles an hour. Propagation speed in a copper conductor is about 99.9% the speed of light. The cable will NOT change the constant. While one cable may be able to handle higher current or amperage the "Speed" of travel will never change.

Don't waste you money on overpriced Monster cables.

These HDMI cables will do just fine.

Why don't you just make 10 louder and make that the loudest?

A bigger hole in your wallet. Seriously in short cable runs Monster cable doesn't show a huge improvement (if at all) over a monoprice.com HDMI cable that costs $6-10.

Wow 4 bucks for a 1.3a certified HDMI cable, man what a deal. I remember paying something like $6-8 for two of mine last year and it is not even 1.3a!

Oh, OK, never mind. These are the 28 gauge, I would go with these the 24 gauge with the mesh jacket...

The bigger model numbers just mean a bigger profit per purchase directly into Monster's account. Just buy a plain cable from monoprice or somewhere similar and spend you money on Blu-ray's

There's a Bose discussion in the "Off Topic" section you might be interested in.

If you're trying to decide between those monster cables, you should actually be asking yourself "how much money do you feel like wasting today?"

I would go with the 24guage as well....if you have the room. The cable is pretty thick and does not bend very easy.

but for 6ft and under, 28guage would be fine too.

Speaking of the Monster 1000 series, I bought one on ebay for $45 this past week. Never pay retail on any type of wire or cable.
