Do used games count toward sales of a game on NPD

I was wondering about this for awhile, Gamestop and EBgames always offer the used version of games after a week or so of a game coming out. I usually by them new, but recently I picked up a couple used games for ps3 (Dark sector, heavenly sword, and condemned bloodshot). And I was wondering if when we purchase these games does these games get factored into north american sales (since I am from Michigan)? I was going to pick up GTA4 used and decided I would wait for Metal gear solid 4 special edition and boy am I glad I did
