Default My PS3 is flashing!!!! T_T

Ever since I beat Assassains Creed it has been flashing at me, and i thought it was just some glitch with that game (since it also forms random shapes out of objects, for instance a spike of sking sticking out of some one's face o.O), but then i got MSG4 the day before yesterday, and it's doing. The game is so beautiful, but the random flashing of random parts of the map or characters is incredibly distracting, and annoying to say the least.

Has any one had this happen? Is it jsut these two games or is it the system? Either way what should i do lol?

You're F'ed in the A Cotton, call Sony. I've never heard of anything like that before.

Does the audio go out at the same time? Could be a connection issue. Either a faulty cable or connector. I would test with different cables to see if this solves the problem or if it is the connector at the tv or ps3 end. Of course it could be software or hard drive related in which case you would probably have to send it back in.

I would agree with this, I would start with the connection. Try the OEM connector and see if it still does it. How do you have it hooked up?

What you're describing ("spike of skin sticking out of someone's face") sound like graphical glitches. Could be due to overheating or a faulty PS3. I doubt that connection changes will fix it.

That said, I'd still try that first. I'd also try making sure it was well-ventilated. Then... call Sony.

It sounds to me like a PS3 error. If it is causing graphical miscalculations, then you need to have that looked as ASAP. It could be overheating or something, maybe a fan broke... Or it could be a software problem.
Try saving all your files to another disc and wiping the disc, start fresh and try it and if they are still there, call Sony cause it is most likely a hardware thing.

Default Thanks

Thanks guys, I'll try the connection, but i doubt it is the fan or the connection. The only reason for that is that it only happens in those two games. It's so wierd, I will call Sony though, tahnks for that suggestion, I hadn't thought of it =)

Any way, thanks again!

I loved that game. Now that I have my new 50in plasma. I'm going to start it over. The only problem I had with that game is the occoasional freezing. What PS3 do you have?

I hear it is a good game, never played it yet tho. Never heard of any bugs with it, but it could be. Sometimes things happen and it sounds like a software thing to me. Did you play, install, download, start, finish any other games at that time?

Original 60 gig. Not the first launch, but a month after. Yeah i get the occasional freezing thing too, but that hasn't happened since like February.

System restore?! o.O I think that's the very last resort. I'd rather not lose all my game data, videos and such. I could move it all temporarily, but that's more hastle then it's worth atm. Worthy suggestion though. The AC delete wouldn't be a bad idea either, it would be fun to play again, now that i think about it...

Uhhh...I don't think i installed anything at the time i got AC, other than some stuff of the PS Store. =S

hook up a USB drive or thumb drive or flash card and back up all your game data. Try not to use the back up tool cause that might actually back up the error too. If you can, skip the Assassin's Creed files if you think it might have the problem in the files.
THEN do the system restore. That way all your games are backed up. But you will have to update the system and change settings again.
It sounds like a software thing to me, if you are not confident with this, just call Sony.
