The USA's NTSC PS3 can't play PAL movies. Do you think they'll be a patch for it? Any hack could do this?

Legally? No. The PS3 abides by the rules of DVD region coding.

Is there a hack that can do it? Probably. But I don't think we're allowed to talk about that sort of thing on this board, as circumventing such protections violates the Digital Millenium Copyright Act here in the USA.

There are some region 0 PAL releases. There are also All Region Blu-rays with PAL special features. For these reasons alone, I would hope that a PS3 software upgrade would be in order. Besides, PAL and NTSC have little to do with region coding.

I play 25fps m2ts files all the time on my NTSC machine. Technically not a Blu-Ray disc but they can play PAL. So, if you were somehow able to get they disc you want ripped you're well on your way.

EDIT:
The 25fps material I play are family videos from a sony HD camcorder... just want to make that clear.
