I wouldn't call the controls terrible. They're definitely different, but once you get used to them they actually make a lot of sense. I've been having a lot of fun with it. My only complaint is that auto-matching doesn't work the best and it would also help if there were a few more filters available in free battle. Definitely worth the buy in my opinion.

I like MGO - coming from a PC gamer. The contrlling is good enough that I can actually get kills off of people.

I think it rules. After beating MGS4 twice, the controls are pretty comfortable.
I had trouble with this too one day, but last night automatching was superfast and problem-free for me. Maybe they're still hammering out the bugs... or something. |

I really wanted to like MGO, but the gameplay was just way too slow for me. It had a huge amount of potential but when a full on run feels like you are walking in other games, I found it very boring. There will be those who say its not supposed to be fast, its a tactical espionage game and they would be right.... for the main game, however, in a deathmatch situation it should move alot faster. I didn't have all that much problem with control or finding games however. All in all I would say maybe a 6/10. When the expansions come out maybe they can increase the speed but until then, its a pass for me.

I absolutely hated it. It started even before I played the game. I was really disgusted with Konami's plan to bypass the PSN so you can't use your friend's list at all. You have to start over. Then there's the whole Konami ID registration process which you shouldn't have to go through. My next complaint was in setting up the character where they tell me I can't make changes to certain aspects of my character and have to purchase additional slots if I want more characters.
Then there's the gameplay. I prefer first person view and was really disappointed that you have to play in 3rd person. This wouldn't be so bad but with the way the view constantly changes when you back up against a wall, I found it really difficult to play on smaller maps where you were constantly near something and the view was continually moving to try and adjust. My final major complaint is that this is a headshot only game. I stopped playing after numerous times of unloading a clip into someone ( seeing blood so I know I hit them) and then have them turn and shoot me in one shot. I've also unloaded a clip into someone's chest at close range and they walk up and get me with a knife while I'm reloading. Of all the FPS's I've played (Warhawk, Ghost Recon, RB6V 1 & 2, Resistancem, & COD ), this is the least fun and most disappointing. I know there are some who enjoy this type of gameplay but for those wanting something like COD or RB6V, I would rent it first. |

You are playing it like COD / FPS. By definition, a FPS is a "First Person Shooter". MGS4, and MGO by extension, is a "Tactical Stealth 3rd Person Shooter". So if you do not like its genra, it's fine, but do not dislike it because it's not doing things that it's not supposed to do in the first place ![]() |

Perhaps you should actually read what I said instead of just skimming. I said 3rd person would be ok but the view switching makes it a pain. Most of the points I made had nothing to do with the 3rd person or tactical aspect i.e. headshot only and no psn friends list. Also, you apparantly missed the fact that I compared it to Ghost Recon and both RB6 games which are stealth/tactical and in the case of GR, 3rd person view as well. If you are ok with the issues I've mentioned, that's fine but don't assume everyone who dislikes it is wrong because they like other types of games.

I like it.
If you are good with a gun, shoot the head and it will kill instantly. Knife someone and they die fast. You can set traps, knock guys out, sneak around, go in like an assault team, strategize, blind people, mess up radar, blow people up, find night vision goggles and drum cans... there is a lot to do in it. If you have a decent team, and are good at a variety of things (anything from knifes to CQC to sniping to machine gun, etc), and train on various abilities, you can have a lot of fun. Since it is part of MGS4, there is nothing to lose to try it out, since I am sure everyone here will tell you MGS4 is worth it alone, and this is just an add-on. Some will like it more than others. Since it is not a separate game (yet), it is pretty good. I haven't played the other listed but they are more full games for online play. Plus since it is new, I am sure they are intent on satisfying people and fixing any issues. |

Developers tend to go 80% of the way like with BBC. I love it but I hate the fact that they have left off a mute option and a party system. COD was the same way with no mute option for a while and the game host quitting problems. I find it amazing that Resistance had everything from day one and years later developers are still shipping games with less features than Resistance started with. |
