Exclamation A Few Things PS3 Is Missing (In My Opinion)

With all the new firmware updates there are a few things, I feel PS3 no matter what model, is still lacking.

They added the time in the upper right hand corner, but no way to shut it off, some of us don't like to see the time when we're bluraying.

There is no HDMI Control, Sony TVs have the ability to turn on and off with signals sent thru HDMI, my BDP-S300 does it but why dosen't my PS3 (could solve ir receiver issues if we can use a sony tv remote to control the PS3)?

IR control, it probally is so simple, but still hasn't been added.

X.V. Color certification to ensure the best color processing.

More acurate battery monitoring, and or a onscreen warning that the battery is low in a Dualshock 3 controller.

Gigabite networking support for better gaming, and LAN parties.

FOR GOD'S SAKE more colors for the units, to match room decor and or other sony equipment and or tvs. lol or click covers that snap over the existing shell.

Better ability to save last position on a bluray, I hate having to always start from the begining, i know its the java but the can figure something out.

Please post other things you might be interested in seeing with the PS3 and mabey we can submit requests to Sony.

by "bluraying" do you mean watching a movie? cause if you do i certainly dont see the time when im doing that. All of the rest I dont care about but i know some do. you can go to colorwarepc.com if you want your ps3 a different color.

i dont want stickers to cover it, we pay plenty it should come in silver and or white, also i just mean the xmb menu i'd like the time off, I have clocks all over my equipment. and as for the features, if we dont stand up and speak out about what we want we might not get anything at all

I LOVE THE PS3, don't get me wrong, but why should we not have a say. I own 5 PS3 units, and 100+ bluray movies and that's a reasonable investment, in hardware and movies, we should have a basic say in the things we use the most. Just my opinion.

All seem reasonable ..but some are hardware issues and likely won't happen. Anything that is firmware is a possibility. Join the playstation forums and G.A.P section over there..they would be monitoring those sites for requests more closely.

Damn your kicking my ass with 5. I think the colorware is an actual paint job not a sticker.

The time doesn't show up when watching Blu-ray movies.

This one is true. The PS3 doesn't have that function. Not that it makes sense to have it when you can turn it off via your controller.

There are solutions available for purchase (around $20).

Using Deep Color on Blu-ray movies requires more space and bandwidth.

There is a warning that pops up on the screen.

Already there as well.

Some Blu-ray movies enable this and others don't. I would like to see more of it in the future.

I posted this with another post. I only things that I would like to see would be a time estimate for when you download things off of the playstation store. You should be told how long it'll take to download things and I would like to see a progress bar for the browser. All computer browsers have a progress bar that tells you how much of the web page has loaded, the ps3 browser should have the same thing and I would like to see java support for the ps3. I don't know if you could have more accurate battery monitoring or not. I think that other members on here can think of other things to add, then we need to bug Sony enough so that we get what we want. It's possible, Sony just has to pull it off.

I know its frustrating some times but with out us asking for what we want there is no way the ps3 would be as good as it is, whats cool is it seems like sony is listening and are really working to give us ps3 owners what we ask for. That said some sort of ps2 play back across the board if only for the purpose of being able to offer ps2 games exclusively for psn would be great and I know this is not likely but itunes or ipod support would just be sweet! But yeah I know it cant and won't happen.Access to your youtube account with google media server wouyld be nice too and I think thats doable

Yeah see that is a more logical thing to ask for, and prolly most likely to be added sooner or later!!

Well, it is certainly lacking one thing...

A closed caption decoder. The reason why a CC decoder is necessary is due to the fact HDMI is unable to transmit the signal. So therefore, a software version of the decoder is needed.

Very true and it's a reasonable request.

I looked up the decals from decalgirl and they are awesome. I know that this is going to sound like a stupid question, but I just have to ask. Is there any way that covering the system with decals would effect the temperature ? I realize that it will not cover the fan or anything like that, but for some reason I just had to wonder because it already runs pretty hot.....maybe I'm over thinking this, but had to ask

If you want a different color PS3 check out www.colorwarepc.com

They do every color imagineable and isn't some cheap paint or sticker. It's a high quality scratch resistant paint. I can vouch for them first hand. I have a techno blue 60GB here in NZ that I ordered and it was top service and delivery
And if you live in the states you can send in your own current model or otherwise order one. Yes they ship world wide too.

What I really want to see is a better browser, I use this quite a bit but am continually irritated every time a flash video box informs me I don't have the right version to view the video.

Surely it's possible to do a deal with Mozilla and get a fully functional version of Firefox on the PS3? It's open source and does everything and more than IE, so come on Sony - it must be possible to create a browser that offers a full Internet experience.

More music visualisations
