Default Best Movie of the Summer

Ok this is a thread for you to explain which movie you thought was THE best overall movie of the summer. It doesnt matter if its a comedy or animated movie, just because they dont have a dead actor playing the Joker doesnt mean they cant be the best. Vote for the movie YOU truly think is the best, and not what the crowd is choosing. I will keep the poll anonymous so you dont have to be scared of your name being brought up if you like lets say "Meet Dave." In my opinion the best action movie was Iron Man the best animated movie was Wall E and the best comedy was Pineapple Express with the best OVERALL movie being Pineapple Express. Now I realize there are still a few movies coming this summer (august) like Sisterhood 2 and Tropic Thunder, so if you seriously think some of these will be the best movie of the summer, then dont vote yet, its simple as that. over all i'd have to say that i want to believe is my favorite, but then i'm a huge fan and really haven't been this geeked out in 10 years. i don't know if it's my favorite action movie because i don't know if i'd categorize it as an action film. but then i'm not really sure what to categorize it as. as for comedy i can't say as i have yet to see pineapple express or step brothers so i'll wait. wall-e though is my favorite animated film. although it's the only one i've seen.

It was a decent Summer for movies. I thought there were a few standout titles, (Iron Man, Wall-E) but I thought Dark Knight was an excellent movie. It worked on so many levels. Let the Fall movie season begin...

I say it is a toss up between TDK and Pineapple Express. One is all you could ever want in a Batman movie and the other is the funniest movie ever. I voted for TDK, though.

You're creating a thread knowing that TDK will have the most votes and than proceed to insult fans(boys) of it few minutes later without them even voting yet? ooh that is great
You're a joke and that is my opinion of you after reading few of your posts.

Who do you all think will get suspended/banned first?

As for Walle... I can defend my opinion on it based on several facts. First, it is my opinion, and being that, it is the opinion of an animation enthusiast and a digital artist.
Besides that, Walle has much more to tell in the story than many of the bigger blockbuster movies, and it speaks to people on several levels. It starts out as a simple love story, but it has much more symbolism and themes. They touch upon the topics of consumerism, environmentalism, human nature, sacrifice, greater cause, to name a few. It reflects cinematic scenes from other movies such as Hello Dolly (in fact it is directly in the movie), 2001, Short Circuit, etc.
While I know that most people will argue about if it is a great movie, or just a good movie, at the same time, most people will agree that it is at least a good movie. Being an animation, it suffers from the fact that people assume it is for children. The rating is low enough for kids to see it, but at the same time it has themes and jokes that only adults will get. It is an all around family film, in that it is intended for everyone to see, not just adults or children.

I enjoyed this since it talked to me on several levels. It is good to have a nice love story, and something that I can relate to. I have always been a huge fan of sci fi and robotics, as well as animation, so this naturally appeals to me. As for the animation, it is top notch. The quality, the details, the imagery are all amazing. I had to see this 3 times just to appreciate the quality of the animation, as well as the story and the characters.

As for TDK, yes this is probably the best film of the year. I don't need to defend my position. But I will say it is an adult movie, with very adult themes, and yet appeals to children being Batman. This is a bad thing, as parents will take their kids only to see the Joker
[Show spoiler]shove a pencil through a guys face
. I loved it, but I have heard parents complain about the violence.
Iron Man is also among the top movies this year.

As for putting Walle in the same category... that is simple. It balances out the violent comic-book based movies with a nice romantic and fun film.

Not back to the cat fight....

oh, and you are both noobs.

[Show spoiler] Yay I just figured out how to put a line of color over words so that they would appear blotted out like this. It's just a stupid HTML code

TDK in my opinion

A movie (or any work of art) can address all of these topics and more, and still fail to say anything intelligent about them.

This man speaketh the truth. Except, I would have liked to see The Dark Knight been bumped up to an R rating and actually show blood. The violence had less impact. More visceral elements please.
