Default is Warner going to re-release virtually all prior lossy audio releases?

I'm thinking of getting Fool's Gold but if Warner will re-release in lossless, I'll wait.

It'd be nice to know for all the other Warner lossy audio movies too -- generally speaking which ones would be re-released? All? Virtually all? Only the popular ones?

I'm sure they will as special editions or something like that. There are quite a few I want from them but will not buy them until they put lossless audio on it.

i would say they will re-release all of their current movies they have on blu-ray and put lossless audio just to piss us off for those who have already at least some of warner's lossy audio blu-rays

I don't see it happening for all titles. I think the only reason SUPERMAN RETURNS was re-done is that there was already a version with a PCM track packaged with certain Pioneer players.

a lot of titles will get re-releases, but that will be through usual double dips. I wouldn't count on fool's gold getting one for at least 5 years though (if not more)

More titles than just the uber popular ones get treated to double dips too, so of the choices you've given, I'm going to say virtually all titles will get re-released with lossless audio one day.

If you're thinking of Superman, well that audio was already prepared.

The sad thing is that some of these Warner BDs with lossy audio will never get a double dip, at least on Blu-ray. Look at Warner's practices with dvds, for many years the only dvd versions of certain movies were very poor non-anamorphic discs. Blade Runner languished for over a decade as an awful dvd before the recent reissue. Most of the popular titles with lossy audio will get double dipped eventually but it could be years before we see them. Don't ever expect to see double dips of tv shows on BD by Warner that have lossy audio.

That would be a really moronic thing to do. Especially when they have a number of titles coming in the coming weeks (think Speed Racer, Fred Claus and probably Get Smart) that don't have a much deserved lossless track. I don't know why they're rereleasing Superman Returns, considering that even the studio know calls it a complete failure and waste of both time and money.

Plus just look at the upcoming 25th anniversary edition of A Christmas Story, sure they're releasing it in a nice tin with all sorts of swag, but the disc is identical and has the same bad transfer and mono sound (Not even a regular Dolby 5.1 track!). Even though they are releasing it without the tin, it's pretty much a Paramount- style cover change.

The movie isn't 2 years old you know... It's not so much the transfer that's bad as the print itself. And the film was originally in mono, so I am glad that they're releasing it in mono and not some fake 5.1 version.
