Default The Hulk (2003)

I'm getting ready for this release...ready to upgrade my 2-disc DVD set. For those that don't know, this blu-ray release will have all the same extras that were in the DVD set, just on one disc. The blu-ray details say it has the same extras as the HD-DVD, which had the same for the DVD 2 disc set, so no worries about extras not being ported over.

With master audio and a cleaned up high def picture, this is a definite upgrade. Here's to hoping they get this release right the first time. Universals done a good job so far, so hopefully this will be no exception

Can't wait for September 16th.

Once again my BB had this one out yesterday for rent. I grabed it quickly. The audio is fantastic as well the PQ is nice. I dont really like the movie, but hey not a totally bad movie for one decent rent. I wouldn't buy it, but if you like this movie and want an upgrade on PQ and SQ, they you should nag this one up.

Thanks for the info. I'm really looking forward to the audio upgrade the most. Just curious what your setup is and how it rates to other movies you've seen.

I didn't hate this movie,I just found it more of a drama than a comic book movie.I won't mind upgrading my DVD also if the price is good.

I think these two Hulk movies are a bit confusing. Maybe they should have been released with more years apart.

Hulk is one of the finest motion pictures ever made. It was maybe the only film that maybe even slightly made me consider buying a cheap HD DVD player. September 16 will result in the highest film in my top-films-of-all-time-to-be-released-on-Blu-ray list, Blade Runner, being replaced. This will not happen again until Peter Jackson's Heavenly Creatures is released on BD. Mark your calendars.

Default This movie got so much negative buzz

What did people dislike about this movie? I thought it was really good and I really loved the casting with both Eric and Jennifer. And I REALLY LOVE the whole Beauty and the Beast angle with how Hulk would calm down as soon as he saw her. She does have amazingly beautiful eyes, that's for sure.

I don't see why people hated it so much either. I'm guessing there just isn't enough action in it for them. That doesn't make it a bad movie though. Lots of great movies don't have a ton of action. The only problem with the Hulk is that people were expecting a ton of action. Once you realize what this movie is though, it's an enjoyable watch.

I have my copy pre-ordered and am looking forward to seeing it again. In all honesty though, if I weren't boycotting Warner titles, The Hulk would have probably been pushed off my 2008 purchase list and into early 2009.

Side note - I really love the cover art/poster for this version of the Hulk. Beats the art for the new hulk movie by a landslide IMO

I'll be getting it too. I thought it was a good film, not great, but definitely worth the price of admission.

What I didn't like about it were 2 related things actually... the whole father and son thing - father trying to actually kill his own infant son and the whole Nolte character against grown-up son thing. I was a big fan of Hulk in the 60's... loved the old cartoons and comic books but not this father against son angle in this film. Some of the effects were great, there are some really good demo scenes, good sound... they just should have left out that one angle but I suppose they wanted more drama than just the military trying to kill off the big green bugger. I can understand that for sure... just wish they could have come up with another idea.

The Hulk had lots of action, even more than The Incredible Hulk and plus some of the cgi scenes in that film were so amazingly awesome (desert scenes and such). So im pretty sure thats not the reason why.
-A lot of people hate it because of the plot, it seemed to rely on too many sub-plots and didnt focus on one thing to keep the audience entertained. (in the new one its mostly an internal battle and was portrayed well on film). The Hulk though to me seemed pretty anti-climatic, i never felt like mood rushes of glee and felt flat to me.

But the Green/Purple Hulk was great to see since Ang Lee tried hard to please comic fans by putting in things from the universe, whereas the newer one was a more realistic approach. I still think Eric Bana would have stomped Norton's Hulk.

I have to agree. The Hulk is the better movie. The second (TIH) starts out dull, then some action, then dull, then some action, etc with the action never rising above the ordinary. Plus, I don't care for the CG look of the second Hulk...I prefer the comic book look of Bana's Hulk. While The Hulk does take awhile to get going, I prefer the complexity of the story, and the action in the second half is superior and fun to watch. The end of TIH was disappointing -- two hulks fighting it out -- unoriginal and boring. I'm surprised TIH is more popular. However, I have to say that I don't own either -- rental only.

I really liked this movie and can't wait to have this Blu-ray!
I didn't like the fact that it really had nothing to do with the comic book. It really could have been any Jekyll/Hyde type story, as it certainly wasn't the Hulk. The whole father/son angle, Bruce not knowing who he is, "unlocking something that was already inside of him," Hulk dogs, and WTF ending really put me off.

That said I'll give this a rent, as I haven't seen it in about four years. I'll probably just end up skipping to the scene where Hulk is fighting the tanks and call it a day, though. Can't wait for Incredible Hulk.

Regardless, the movie is coming out in all it's high def glory!

I'll take a well acted movie, excellent character development, involving story and just enough action to entertain me any day.

That's one thing that drives me crazy. OK, maybe Hulk isn't non-stop action, but it's got 3-4 action scenes, and they are incredible. The sequence starting with his escape from the military complex through returning to normal in San Francisco has to be one of finest set of action sequences ever filmed. Bombastic and subtle at the same time, with peaceful, emotional lulls in the middle of chaos, unscored segments, stunning action choreography, amazing roller coaster styled pacing, all while moving the characters forward. Perfect.

Well i liked the story for the most part, though it was better story then Edward Norton one....But i'm sorry Jennifer Connelly was the only one that was acting..Eric was soo bad in this movie and i hated the comic book split screens at the start of the movie, they should have only had it for the first 5 minutes or so.....Still overall i think i would take this hulk over the new one which was fun ,but the story come on please....I also liked the father/son story and what the dad did to the son well on the army base turning him into the hulk i though that was cool touch....I though the way hulk became hulk in the newest one was kind of lame.....But i love edward norton...

1.85 is correct. Is it labeled as 2.35 on the case? I got it from Netflix.
