Default Help TX-SR805

Im running out of things to check before I call Onkyo or send the receiver back ,maybe someone here has had this problem or know the answer.

I cant get sound from the front speakers when using the PS3....The sub, center and surround work but not the fronts.

Ps3 is hook up using HDMI ...If i hook it up to the tv it works fine so is not the cable or the PS3.

Any idea would be great.........Thanks

PS HDMI audio is off

Do you have those connected to zone 2 accidentally?

Did you hit the a/b button and activate the second zone?

Were you playing it too loud and blow your speakers?

Is it the 805 or 803 as your sig states?

Go through the audio set-up on the ps3 again selecting only the hdmi outputs that you want to use lpcm 5.1, 7.1 etc.

Hate to ask, but do you have your wires mixed up? Are the surround speakers hooked into the Front L/R terminals on the receiver and vice versa? or even into the rear surround terminals?

I wish.....but no

I just checked just in case thru the level select and they are where they suppose to be.

If I change the sound to all stereo I get all speakers is only in multichannel that I only get 3.1 sound ...I didnt have the problem w/my 803 so I think is something in the 805 settings or problem playing back multichannel from the PS3.

no, I don't think you could set a crossover that would completely block out the fronts.

Im guessing you have a loose speaker connection on the fronts. Try rewiring them.

If not, any chance there's something weird going on... i.e. the receiver is in mono mode with DSP applied?

I dont think is a loose wire...They play fine when I put the PS3 in bitstream.

The problem is only w/the PS3 in LPCM ...DTV , Xbox360 and wii all play fine.

PCM is discrete channel audio. If you are not hearing something, it means either a setting in your receiver is incorrect, or there is something fishy with the wiring. (or a defective receiver, but lets not get ahead of ourselves)

to cover all bases, check the wiring.
