Well, that's debatable. Personallly I feel that you can get all the benefits of tower speakers with certain speakers provided they include a large enough mid-range woofer. Sounds like you'll at least have the 5.1 surround sound for now, but let me assure you that when you discover HD audio, you'll be upgrading in the future. Does the receiver you bought come with HDMI 1.3 input(s)?

Yep welcome and hope you'll love your blurays for many years to come. It's a great format with lots of possibilities. It's the exciting time in the life of a new format when we are eagerly awaiting announcements of the movies we love.

Welcome. Naturally I have to ask if you updated the S300 firmware to 4.20. BIG difference over 3.95 and prior. It started to get a little sucky around 3.80 but 4.20 lets me love my player again.

Welcome aboard!!!!

Have faith knowing that with Blu-ray you are experiencing the best possible consumer HD format. Nothing else can touch it. Be thankful you are not drinking the "HD DVD -> now DLing" kool-aid that viral marketers are pushing at AVS.

High bitrate 1080p and lossless audio is leagues beyond over compressed 720p AppleTV or Comcast so-called 'HD' VOD services.

Welcome to high-end "HD" quality.

You aren't in a low lying area of Houston are you? Off topic - if you are you are in grave danger and this is not a joke. You're talking to a survivor of 9 Cat 3 and above's (the latest being Ivan and Dennis - took a direct hit from Dennis). Ike is no joke and it shouldn't be called a cat 2 (has cat 5 wave action). If you are still there and if you have time to get out - do it. I wanna here from you after this is all over!

Congrats on the 1080p Mits!!!!
