I have the Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP and use it for gaming all the time. It's Ultrasharp so the contrast ratio is amazing. Highly recommended.

Here's the CNET review and here's a comparison with it and two other monitors.

I have LG 22" monitor w/ 3ms response, I really like it but it's not on the top 10
Maybe that link might help you narrowing down your choice.

Forget those - the one you want to look at is the one I've got because it's set up specifically for gaming.

There's a 37", but I've got the 32" version - the monitor I'm talking about is a Sharp Aquos 32" Gaming LCD, 1080p HDTV. I got mine early this year for about $1100 as a floor model from Best Buy (or Worst Buy depending on your experiences)

The thing that makes this system ideal for gaming is that it has an installed gaming circuit that automatically removes the display lag between console and monitor. If you've ever played Guitar Hero and adjusted the display lag settings, you know that the lag can be anywhere from 30 - 90 milliseconds depending on the display - more than enough time to get fragged when you're playing online.

I played COD4 before I got mine on a 17" RCA CRT monitor, average lag was about 40 in GH. The difference in OLG was noticeable once I got this monitor. And if you've never gamed in 1080p, you're just missing out.

The model # for the 32" system is Sharp Aquos LC-32GU1P, 37" is the LC-37GU1P. Got mine at Best Buy as a floor model, price has come down quite a bit. They've probably added other monitors with that circuit by now.

It should also be noted that Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions use this Aquos as well in their offices. If that's not an endorsement, then nothing is.

You can view the manual on the Sharp site at:

Aside from the circuit itself, it also has 3 HDMI inputs, Component Video, S-Video, Fiber Optic, and other input/outputs for video and audio. It supports Surround, DTS and has connection for a subwoofer as well. As we speak mine is hooked to my PS3 and I've got it plugged into my laptop as an external display as well.

careful don't dismiss monitors with 8ms refresh rates, many manufacturers are "cooking the books" so to say when it comes to refresh rates. Rather than black-to white to black they may do grey-to grey which will give the ultra fast sub5ms numbers, but is not a true representation.

I have a 22" Westinghouse widescreen and it seems to be just fine. I think anything under 8ms with a decent resolution and high contrast should be good enough for just about anything. And remember this a monitor will look best at its native resolution (mine is 1680x1050) and will actually look worse at high res (say 1900x1200) that most gamers like to play at.

I dont know about the t220 but I own the T240 and it is the shiznit. it's 24" widescreen 1080P and works great for gaming as well as blu-ray. I've only played a few games on it like UT3 and Crysis so far but it's absolutely beautiful. sports 20,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, which will tide me over till OLED monitors with their sexy 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio are affordable(maybe by the year 2030 ;] ). I got my T240 from newegg for about $460 back in the beginning of august and it has no dead or stuck pixels. looking at newegg now it has already dropped to $420(teehee). the slightly red gradient running through the bottom of it's glass-like bezel is a really nice, almost unnoticeable touch. highly recommended. :]
