Just ordered a PS3

I ordered yesterday a PS3 from amazon.com, i mainly got it for the blu-ray player, i've been waiting for a bd-50 player, but jus decided to get ps3 instead, should i return it before it's opened and get the bd50, or is the ps3 as good as any if not better for playing blu-rays, and if the ps3 is a good player, what games are sugested that's available, im lookin to get MGS4, thats all i know.. thanks to all who can help...........

Keep it. You won't regret it. It is IMO the best stand alone player out there...and it's a make shift gaming system when you want it to be. How can you go wrong?

EDIT: As far as games go, wait 2 months for Resistance 2 to come out....also Rock Band 2 in October

I'm glad I purchased my PS3, it's a great all in one device. I used it for BD, mp3, and xvid viewing!

PS3 is the best purchase you can make.
Although stand alone players are nice and all, the PS3 has the most unbeatable features. Why by a 32" TV when you can get a 60" for the same price.

Games: MGS4, Call of Duty 4 and Rock Band for sure. There are also a ton of games coming out in the next couple of months as well. Deadspace, Rock Band 2, Fallout 3, and Resistance 2, and Bioshock.

Yeah, i have had a samsung bd p1000 for awhile, it sucks, ive did firmware updates and all, but cant play all blu-ray movies, mainly all newer releases, ive needed sumthin better for a long time, since i do enjoy games every now and then, just one person to tell me to keep it is all i needed ha, any games worth picking up now, MGS4- is it? or Uncharted, or could i deal without.. Ive played Bioshock on my brothers 360, amazing game , will definatly get that tho , and how is the online experiance?

MGS4 is good. I like it. Uncharted is a fun adventure. LBP is the one I am most looking forward to.

One thing you will love is the ease of upgradign firmware for the PS3. It's a piece of cake!

What kind of games do you like the most? A good pickup right now is The Orange Box since its 29.99 now.

I would like Call of Duty 4, for online fun.. i know how xbox live works cause my brother has it, how does ps3 online work? about the same.. and yeah i thought firmware updtes would be easy, because the online, i will be glad to own something that will always be able to play blu-rays, such a relief from my p1000 , always wondering if when i buy a blu-ray if it'll even work, and most the time it wont

PS3 online is free, you basically just need an email adress.

I've played CoD4 on both and there is not too much difference. You will have tons of fun online with CoD4. Especially once you unlock Hardcore.

CoD4 online is a blast and yeah it works pretty much the same way as in XBL.

And as a standalone, the PS3 is still one of the best Blu Ray players out there.

I ordered ps3 last thursday.. i am amazon prime member so i got it Friday for only 3.99 shipping.. (sweeeet!)

Spent all weekend playing with it..

compared to my Xbox360 (now sitting in another room unplugged and to be sold) it is far and above a better media device, which is what i mostly use it for..

I love occasional gaming.. but I got it for Bluray and media streaming from my pc.

I hate spending money.. but i really feel this is a huge step up for my home entertainment experience. Ive had a 1080p tv for a while .. this was a great buy for me.

Plus one less remote.. ps3 replaced my xbox360 and my oppo upconverting dvd player.

what i played on my bro. 360 and loved were, call of duty 4, bioshock, elder scrolls oblivion, splinter cell, gears of war, so action and adventure games i enjoy with a story worth goin through the game for..

So is Assassin's Creed as well as Heavenly Sword, Motorstorm, and the first Resistance. I think Ratchet and Clank may be also. I think this is the year that PS3 becomes a console for some great gaming.

I liked Assassin's Creed alot, so I recommend that game. MGS4 is also a good game, and the Orange Box is alot of fun.

Ok wow, my ps3 is not playing blu-ray's, it played a dvd, but when i start up a blu-ray, it brings my samsung tv menu up and it says searching signal-no signal, when i eject disc it get's the signal to my ps3 back ,when it goes to the menu, am i doing something wrong, is it my tv, and i did the update... BD Disc i tried were scropion king, mummy, what happens in vegas, and black hawk down, none would work????? What am i doin wrong
