1984 - Blu-ray Forum

Hi, I am a new member and I did a search on this movie 1984 and I haven't got anything back.

Well, I noticed that it was not in Blu-ray and I haven't heard anything about it being on Blu-ray and I am really hoping that it will.

I heard that in the 1984 DVD release that they did not have eurythimics version of the movie and you could only get it if your DVD was formatted for Europe or something like that.

AND that the 1984 release for the US had a classical soundtrack to it.

I haven't seen it and from personal experiance I believe that the eurythimics version is more appealing (judging from youtube videos) and that it losses it's "feel" without the original soundtrack in.

What I am getting at here is that I want the original version released. But, I doubt that it will happen in regards to this movie.

No. He is talking about the movie 1984 based on George Orwell's novel of the same name that was written in 1948. It's a post apocalyptic story about "Big Brother" aka the government watching every move the people in society make. Winston, the lead character falls for a young female coworker who is married and begins to have an affair with her. After they are caught they are taken in to be "reprogrammed" to eliminate their impure sexual desires. It is by no means a great movie and I personally don't think it would hold up well in Blu_Ray as the film is intended to look weathered and grainy. If I was going to chose which version to watch I'd go with the US version with the classical music as opposed to the UK version with the Eurythmics soundtrack. If you really interested read the book.

I apologize for bumping this thread but I just know if I made a new one people would tell me to use the search function. what are the chances of this movie getting a Blu-ray release?

They are showing 1984 on MGMHD right now. I am watching it. It looks to be higher quality than DVD, so maybe it is come to BR soon.....I certainly hope so!

Suzanna Hamilton is so beautiful in this movie.

1984 will be released in Australia in March. Hopefully a US release comes this year too
