Newb Questions from a Blu-ray King

I'm going to be getting an HD camcorder soon that has an HDD and Memory Stick.

Now I was thinking that I would just transfer my video from the camcorder to the PS3 in 8GB (size of my Memory Stick) incriments. However, I am understanding that the PS3 has a 4GB file size limit, so would I run into problems trying to transfer 8GB of video from my camcorder to my PS3?

Now if that is a problem I would like to use optical media. Here is where you guys are going to kill me. If I used DVD as my choice of media can I put a 1080i video on a DVD, will it play on my PS3 in 1080i and would bitrates affect the PQ on something like this.
