Can someone tell me what the red, green,blue and yellow buttons are for on the blue ray remote control.

They activate the extra special features of the PS3. If nothing happens when you press them then I'm afraid you're just not special enough to experience them.

They activate different features during playback of blu-rays. Most of the times the inserts with movies will tell you what they do. The most common is the green button as a bookmark so you can come back to where you left off on a movie. The others? I don't know...

They are simply buttons that the disc manufacturers can program to do certain things. As cathexist said, the green is most often used to make a bookmark. Often, games will use them. It is up to the disc makers to decide what, if anything, they do.

These buttons can also be accessed by hitting triangle during BD playback.
