Default Whole House UPS

Bought a new Kitchen Range today, and was asked if I wanted the $700 extended warranty, which got me thinking..... time to get a whole House UPS (rather than pay for over-priced extended warranties)

Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced UPS for the entire home that offers some sort of coverage (as in pays for it) for items that get zapped (Like my newly obtained, dearly beloved Range )

I found this.... which seems Cheap, and offers $25K in protection

http://www.westsidewholesale.com/ind...560&source=ad3

anyone have one they'd recommend?

EDIT:

For the person who reported my post (to me nonetheless) One main reason for a Whole-House-UPS is to protect my Televisions, Blu-ray players, projector, audio components, etc....

I know there was a thread about this previously, but I couldn't find it via S E A R C H

O.K..... I decided to move my post..... may get more action here.... although I consider it "HT related"

I had to give myself an infraction.... otherwise I wouldn't be able to sleep tonight.

By the way..... Amazon has the same UPS for $80...... so I may just get a couple of them... (I have two Circuit breaker panels in the house, one for the original structure, and one for the addition)

The 240 part protects the Dryer/Furnace/AC/Stove/H2O Tank I'm guessing?

reading the picture on the first website, looks like they are a one time type gig as it says if light turns red, replace?Something you constantly have to monitor?Or are you gonna have surge strips as well for the HT components?

I already have surge protectors, and power conditioners...... I just want something to cover EVERYTHING..... I'll still use surge protectors for all the televisions etc.... even the non-HD one I am going to put in a guest room..... I have so many surge protectors ( I upgraded those just like anything else over the years ) I may as well use them......

The guy was telling me how I "HAD" to get the protection plan for my new Range because the Fan (convection) costs a bunch of money, and it could get hit by lightning...... so I told my wife about the whole-house-UPS you could get (I tried to sell her on the idea before, but she shut it down...) and basically this was a good excuse..... (cheaper than the warranty for the stove) besides... the rest of the stove is covered by a nice Manufacturer's warranty, so I just need to cover my A$$ for the "Act of God" part........

Basically I finally have a good reason to get the protection I probably should have always had.... now I just have to figure out what one(s) to get.

plus I have lived in my house for 5 years and it was built om 1999 and it still has the original appliances, so that warranty would have long expired before you would have to use it. Now the Dryer died on me last April, It was only 7 years old, but I got a clearanced Maytag one from Lowes for 300.00

We also have this warranty plan thats 36.00 a month and if anything appliance/a/c/furnance break, they fix it or replace it. Was having some major issues with shadetree mechanics saying the a/c needed replaced I decided it might not be a bad idea to get the warranty. As predicted last Spring it broke and he fixed it for the 60.00 deductible, not bad.

Your wording is a bit off. You don't want an "UPS". You want a whole house surge suppressor/protector.

UPS = Uninterrupted Power Supply

Just a friendly FYI If your paying 700 for an extended warranty, your being ripped off. Should be no more than 1 or 2 hundred bux.

Find a good and cheap electrician and ask them to do it for you. Also ask them to run a dedicated 20 amp outlet to the location of your home theater. I have blown fuses often especially if I the turn on the electric heater and crank up the volume. My electric bill is so bad that the utility company keeps sending free low wattage bulbs to me. I suppose they feel sorry for me.

When I upgraded my house from fuses to a circuit breaker system, they tossed in a little black box surge protector. It was like $150, and covers $250,000 worth of damage if it fails. Call an electrician and see what prices they have, some of them are pretty cheap.

Thanks for all of the replys! I can do the wiring myself, but maybe I'll consult an electrician for ideas...... I hate the idea of paying an electrician!

I wish.... it was a $6,000 range, so they figure they can gauge you on the warranty I guess
