keep all of the settings under 50 and under no circumstances put the tv in vivid mode. follow those rules for the first 100-150 hours and you will be fine. the idea is to create even phosphor burn at the beginning of the tv's life In regards to the calibration of the set i would not worry too much about it until after the break in period. There are calibration threads amongst these forums and there are calibration threads for your tv over at the avs forums as well. If you have any questions just let me know. i have the 50pz80u tv and have about 3000 hours on my set now and have never run into any problems with it ![]() |

those settings are fine. but if you want the most accurate color pallet select cinema and warm for your settings. just make sure, brightness etc are all set to 50 or below for the break in period

In addition if you have no patience for counting the first 100-150 hours you can download the plasma break-in DVD for free.
http://www.eaprogramming.com/downloa...nload_main.htm It's available in .iso and VIDEO_TS formats to download. Set your DVD player to upscale, set aspect ratio to 16:9 (very important to not set to 4:3) It runs through for 24 hours. Press play at the same time each day for 5 days, biggety bam. |

I always love your well-thought out counterpoint posts. They're so full of solid, empirical data.

Given that he wants to break in his plasma, what exactly are you offering here in this thread?

I gave up on "breaking in" my plasma on the first day. I use it for everything including the computer. I have fallen asleep leaving the TV on while watching movies 3 times.

Like I said, he can do what he wants, people can make their own choice and we can disagree to disagree. But I'll continue to offer my opinion on anything in this forum that people ask about.

Quick question, what about black bars on top and bottom while watching blu ray discs, will they mess up the break in process?
Thanks |

He didn't ask about the validity of it though, so again I ask, given that he wants to break in his plasma, what exactly are you offering here in this thread?

My point is, you come in, trash someone else's opinion without anything to back it up but your own, and condemn anyone who doesn't blindly follow you. Provide some links and proof of your position or you're just trolling for attention, really. |
