unplug your S350, move and connect it to your PC monitor and ethernet.

If your PC monitor cannot accept the input...then that idea won't work.

I always prefer to download the firmware and burn an ISO disc. You never know if an internet connection fails and may potentially brick your player. Rare, but can happen.

its a disc image of that exact file.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_image

download the firmware to your desktop, startup a DVD/CD burning program, most optical disc authoring software can write ISO files to the disc...after the burn and finish cycle is complete take the disc out and put it in your player..

or you can contact Sony direct and request a firmware disc to be sent to you.clicky

Good luck!

BTW...here's some info that Sony Provides..

* It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.

Firmware Update Instructions

WARNING!! Please follow the update instructions carefully. Failure to follow the instructions may interrupt the update process and may cause the Blu-ray Disc player to be unresponsive or to require repair.

6. The message "Perform version update?" is displayed on the television.
7. Select "OK" and then press the ENTER button.
8. The download process starts and the download screen is displayed on the television.
9. During the download the message "DL */9" is displayed on the television and on the player front display.

Important Notes

* If you have not done so already, please check the current firmware version to determine if this firmware update is needed for your Blu-ray Disc player.
* IMPORTANT: At this time, not all versions of CD burning software are able to create an update disc. If you have difficulty creating a disc, please consider using the network update method or requesting a disc. You may also opt to check back later to see if a newer version of the firmware update has become available.
* WARNING!! Please follow the update instructions carefully. Failure to follow the instructions may interrupt the update process and may cause the Blu-ray Disc player to be unresponsive or to require repair.

* Use a brand new CD-R disc to burn the firmware update. The player may not be able to correctly read a dirty disc or a disc with scratches.
Note: A CD-R disc is strongly recommended. Do not use a CD-RW disc.
* Recommended operating system for the computer that will download the firmware update:
o Microsoft® Windows® 98SE or later is needed.
o Windows Vista®, Windows XP, or Windows 2000 (Service Pack 4) is recommended.

1. Right-click the UPDATE_BDPS350_VER010.EXE file, and click "Properties".
2. On the "UPDATE_BDPS350_VER010.EXE Properties" screen, verify that the "Size:" listed is "56.2 MB (58,967,040 bytes)".
NOTE: The "Size on disk:" listed may be different. That is normal.

4. At the UPDATE_BDPS350_VER010.EXE dialog box, type a location, or click the "Browse..." button to select a location for the uncompressed update, and then click "OK". The UPDATE_BDPS350_VER010.ISO file will be extracted to the specified location.
5. Use the "Burn Image" option of your CD burning software to create the update disc from the UPDATE_BDPS350_VER010.ISO file.

It's easy. You can typically download the firmware from the manufacturer's website. Unzip the file which usually is an ISO file

Follow vinnie97's AVS thread on how to burn an ISO
mini-guide for doing ISO firmware updates with ease and for free (IMGBURN)

I prefer to use Active@ ISO Burner v1.1 myself, you can find it through your best friend Google

You can also go on the Sony site and they will send you a free firmware upgrade disk. It took them one week to send me one.

That will do until the next needed firmware update rolls around and then maybe there will be a wireless option available for all of us with no readily available ethernet connection.
