Default Question for anyone who has a pioneer kuro.

Do they get any Image retention at all? Or are they pretty much clear of that.

Pretty much all plasma's are victims of Image Retention but if your looking for a plasma that would have the less chance of getting Image Retention Pioneer is your best bet while Panasonic is in close second...

You can't tell me that Pioneer gets less IR than Panasonic. Maybe better blacks, but both are Plasmas and BOTH can get IR if you don't use caution.

Any plasma, even the Kuro line, can get burn-in if you do really stupid things like leave a static image on the screen for hours on end. Short term image retention is really no problem if you do the sensible thing and follow the break-in period cautiously.

Corrected.

You will not get permanent burn-in from static images on the screen for hours. It will take days of intentional abuse to cause any lasting burn-in. IR may be present at times, but you're going to have to go looking for it, and it will go away after a short period of watching any moving content in the area of IR.

I have a PRO-151 that had some slight IR early on during the
break in proces(150 hours), which quickly went away after
some full screen viewing.

I am well beyond the 150 hour mark now and I game on it
regularly, sometimes for hours on end and don't even
notice a hint of IR anymore.

I think IR is more of a factor early on during the panels life
because the phosphers have yet to age properly and evenly.

As far as burn in is concerned, you would have to be extermely
careless to do any damage. There are many features mfg.'s
include now to prevent this problem, such as an Orbiter and
Screen wipe.

I have had my Pioneer Pro 111-FD for 2 weeks now and did not do the "normal" 150 hour break-in. However, I did make sure that I did not watch much black bar material. I tried to watch as much HD programming as possible. For tv shows that are still 4:3, I zoomed the picture so it filled the entire screen. I also tried to limit the top and bottom black bars too with BD(except for Dark Knight).

During the week, the tv is on roughly 4 to 5 hours a night and more on the weekends.

I can honestly say that I have not seen any IR up to this point.

Also, make sure that you select mode 2 for orbiter. That helps with static images.

Good luck if you end up getting a Kuro. I absolutely love mine.

Ditto to the above .
Ive had my Pioneer Elite 151fd running 6 days now.
I am about 75% thru break in and have maybe 12 hours of viewing time
on it.
Honestly I do not want to see IR so I never look for it.

The more than five grand I spent on my 151 is by far the most ive ever
spent on a tv , by way far.

I've owned my Kuro Elite Pro-111FD for 5 or 6 weeks now. I am doing a break-in by watching movies and running the break-in DVD. I have not had any problems so far but I do notice a little IR from the Pioneer logo displayed by the BD player while the DVD is loading. It lasts for a few seconds.

This is a really great flat panel. The level of detail the PIO Kuro's are able to display are amazing.

I will reach 100 hours of break-in after a before Christmas and then I plan to load DNICE's (AVS Forum) ISF settings. At some point in early spring I will have it professionally calibrated.

I just added back lighting and that really helps too (see HT Gallery).

Go on a savings plan! I've been saving since the start of October & won't be able to purchase my 111FD or 101FD until the end of March 2009. The wait will be WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
