Default Bittorrent/Fios/Mac help!

Ok . . . as you can see it's about 4 am and I've been trying to screw with this for three hours. So, I'm turning to help. Here's the deal. When using any kind of bit torrent program, I never get the green light or "confirmed" connection for my incoming connections. Hopefully you're familiar with what I'm talking about, but every bit torrent program has some variation of this. So, my goal is to get this working properly. Here's what I'm working with.

Mac OSX
Verizon Fios Actiontech garbage router
Linksys WRT54G wireless router

Here's the deal. The Verizon router's IP address is 192.168.1.1. The Linksys is 192.168.0.1. Is this a problem when setting up port forwarding? Because when going into my router settings on the Verizon router it doesn't show the IP of the Linksys as being connected. Does the Verizon router assign the Linksys router its own IP? I tried to change the IP of the Linksys router to 192.168.1.2, but that hosed everything up.

Then there's the static IP that I'm trying to set on my Mac. If I set a static IP in 192.168.0.x range, it doesn't work. So, is this not what I'm supposed to do?

Basically, as you can already tell, this is far from my area of expertise. If anybody can help me get this $@^@$$@$ thing set up correctly I'd really appreciate it.
