I have to confess to being a total noob to knowing anything about projector systems. What I am wondering is can you buy projector's that match the mind blowing PQ of something like a Pioneer Elite Kuro or other top high-end HDTVs?
Assuming that you were to have a perfect room for a projector that is very dark and a great screen and you have the top-end projector itself can visuals of that quality be met or exceeded? Just curious. |

Yes yes yes! I've not seen the Pioneer Kuro in action, but I can say that my JVC RS-1 can at least match it's performance. I'd try it in a shoot out without hesitation.
If you want that movie theater feel then you have to go with projectors. People always get sucked into a projector. It's a mental block after years of t.v. watching. T.v. is full of commercials, editied content, half hour blocks, and casual viewing. People do dishes and vacumn when the t.v. is on. They also use it as a pacifier for noisy children. But when you have a darkened theater with a projector people switch over to movie mode. They take it more seriously. That right there marries Blu-ray and projecters. Leave the DVD player in the kids room. Now, projectors are like speakers. If your not going to take the time to set up a great enviroment for them to work in then don't go through the expense of getting a good one. Or, in the case of projectors, don't bother at all. Ambient light will hurt the image (the same is true of all displays, the Pioneer Kuro included) and you'll need to keep the room dark while watching a film. That's really the only downfall of modern projectors. Don't worry about burn in, calibration, or any of the older issues that CRTs had. If you're serious about your video presentation I can only recomend that you get a projector. Projectorcentral.com is a great start for anyone interested in projection systems. Also Sony, Panasonic, and my beloved JVC all have good projectors out that are all worth a look. |
