Default Bose better than Klipsch?

Is it possible to convince my friend that his Bose Acoustimass does not sound better then my klipsch. I tried to stop him in spending 1000 on the set....lol 300 on the other two speakers he bought so he can have a 7.1 setup. Also he got a PS3 t play BD so he can get the THAT TRUE CINEMA EXPERIENCE.
I sat there arguing at futureshop with the sales rep in how hes an idoit and what he is saying does not makre sense, but basically he convinced my buddy that BOSE is for movie experience and Klipsch are just loud for music.

another thing he spent money at futureshop ( dont know how much) to install his speakers so they look classy.

Get the frequency response of all the respective speakers and show him the huge holes in the frequency range of the acoustimass system.

Just listen to a Bose system, it will make your ears hurt eventually at higher volumes.

B&W are a much better bet in that price range!

Congratulations to that vendor, he was able to convince your friend of pretty much the countrary of reality.
To paraphrase Adam Savage in Mythbusters, He "rejected reality and substituted his own".

Back in the days I was in a Pro AV Shop, and among other things we were a Bose distributor.
I know this is only the "intarweb", so you may take my words with a grain of salt, but when they say "better music through research", they do not lie. They do research indeed.
For architecture setups and concert halls, not for the living room. Or maybe a gimmick or two for multi-room installs for the kind of AV shops I was in.

Bose -is- for big sound and gadgetry, but certainly not for Home Theatre or Audiophiles in my experience. I do not know Klipsch particularly aside from reputation, but I have seen it recommanded for HiFi and HT systems already, with good results I think.

Funny thing is....... I would say the opposite of my Klipsch. I think they sound fantastic for home theater and just "pretty good" for music.

I don't think there is any "countrary"

Bose is good for neither in my experience, while Klipsch is more than adequate for both I hear

To those who post here: This is not an "Adult Forum" there are many teens in our groups. This site is also looked at by School Districts as a way to stay up-to-date on new technology (i.e. Bluray). We want this type of traffic and the correction of lewd language is definately a plus in this sites cap . We may not get it all - but we are trying!

Now to get back on topic....and a clean one - No you really can't convince your friend unless they are willing to hear good sound. His reference may be the Bose sound. If it is - good luck on trying to win him because Klipsch also have a love/hate relationship (most people love them to death or hate them to death - I'm one of the few the love the things they can do - but love other speakers more because of the things Klipsch can't do). It will be hard to demo both sound systems on equal footing - but that's the best way to do it

Why does it seem like you try and derail every topic with some innuendo that has no place here? There are forums for that type of discussion. You should probably look into it.

You of all people should know better - period. It's getting kinda disgusting to go into a thread to read along and then see a post with some nasty innuendo in it.

Granted, I am all for a sick sense of humor. However, this is not the place for it. Please, keep it to yourselves.

True. I think me and you both were around during a darker age - it was worse before! But I'm going to let this go, and instead turn back to the topic at hand. You need to run a test on that guy - there is no way Bose sounds better than Klipsch in any configuration. Makes no sense at all whatsoever!

If your friend is partial to Bose....let it be! You gave him your opinion and he still went with the Bose setup. That should tell you (right or wrong) what his preference was. I have no doubt he'll be enjoying his system as much as you, regardless of speaker brand.

Regarding Klipsch speakers, I used to be a big fan about 20 years ago. Had the Heresy II - Signature Edition ones for years and truly enjoyed their sound. I can't say that I enjoy the Klipsch sound as much today. Not saying that they aren't good...they're just not for me.

Your Totems are in a different class all together my friend I replaced my Snells with the Heresys not because they were better than the Snells, but because it offered me the opprotunity to do something to the Snells without having to be down for an extended period of time. The Heresys work great for HT and I've got them sounding pretty good with music as well (plays a Sax just right - I wonder why ) but the Snells are more detailed. I'm doing the Audio Note upgrade and see if I can get the best of both worlds. Sorry for hijacking You are definately right in your statement - The OP's friend will still enjoy his system.

And you know what prerich...my ears have changed over the years. I think that's why auditioning speakers is so critical. Because what you liked last year may not be what you enjoy this year. I always enjoyed the Heresy's on Jazz.....kinda almost wished I still had them!

To the OP, I'm not really sure why you feel it so necessary to tell him how to spend his money, or that he spent it poorly.....

You bought Klipsch (which I, and others probably wouldn't buy)

He bought Bose (which I, and others probably wouldn't buy)

Bose marketing is the best. They have name recognition like no one else. Your friend is not an audiophile, and feels comfortable knowing he has a name brand system that will impress most people. Let him be. Not everyone cares to appreciate fine audio.

BTW, I think a $2000 Bose system will sound almost as good as any $300 HTIB system.

Well, sometimes they really don't want help. Actually he thought he was going to be impressed when he told him he got Bose. The more he trys to convince him otherwise, the more he will think he's just jealous.

Think about it, nine out of ten people would have said, "Wow dude, you got the Bose!"

I know my Klipsch is sooo much better than the Bose system I replaced. I didn't think the Bose was BAD, and it fit my needs and space at the time, but the Klipsch is a big improvement.
