Default Subtitle format

What is said on the subtitle format for Blu-Ray movies? Are you gonna move away from those stupid vobsubs and instead use text subtitles that save space and give much greater flexibility for the viewer?

The subtitles on a DVD are now around 1 MB / 2 MB...
Why save space, its only 1/25000 on a 50GB BD disc
