Will blu-ray discs play on the PS3 on a SDTV? - Blu-ray Forum

I am just wondering since I have a PS3 and plan on upgrading to an HDTV in the future and if I could just buy the movies on blu-ray to begin with that would save a lot of money in the future. Is this possible to play them on a SDTV? Sorry if I sound like a moron.

All US BLU-RAY players will down convert the 1080P/24 video to 480I or 480P video quality. All you need is a TV with a composite video input or S-video jack to play a BLU-RAY at 480I. The picture quality will look slightly better then a Super bit DVD when played on a standard TV.
Europe BLU-RAY players will convert 1080P/24 to the PAL format if you live in Europe.
