UMG is a wholly owned subsidiary of Vivendi SA, a French company who also own Canal+ and Studio Canal both of whom are neutral AFAIK.

Only the name Universal has any links to the picture studio.

Yep, "Prête-moi ta main" is Studio Canal's first release on BD and HD-DVD alike, followed by Babel.

edit: Canal+ is HD-DVD only though, isn't it?

Well, all I care about is when Universal will turn and start up with BDs. The consumer is missing out on great movies because of their stubborness

Studio Canal is neutral so Canal+ is neutral by extension.

Looks like you're right. It's just really confusing: Universal distributes the movies for Studio Canal, but SC is neutral; does Canal+ produce movies? There was this one website that mentions Universal distributing Canal+ movies, but they show movies by SC.

Isn't Canal+ just a PayTV channel that happens to be owned by Vivendi? Where do Canal+ and SC connect?

Canal+ has its own distribution label under the Studio Canal banner, so if they are distributing any Universal movies in Europe, they will most likely be on BD and HD DVD, rather than just on HD DVD.
